Dennis and Mason stake their Pompey claims
Monday, 24th Sep 2018 22:32 by pompey-fans.com staff

Louis Dennis and Joe Mason issued gentle reminders to Kenny Jackett that they're in good form and waiting for their first team chance by scoring goals in a reserves' friendly win over Oxford at Baffins Milton Rovers.

Anton Walkes and Jack Whatmough both started for Pompey after injury and had very useful workouts.

Young Joe Dandy impressed for the Blues and almost set up the opener for Mason, while Luke McGee had a tidy night in goal.

Pompey went ahead on 36 minutes when a long ball was helped on by David Wheeler and Dennis fired in from 20 yards.

Dejon Noel-Williams levelled for Oxford when he tucked away a cross but 15 minutes from time Mason was fouled in the box and converted the penalty emphatically.

Pompey: McGee; Walkes, Whatmough (Mnoga 61), Dandy, Haunstrup; B.Thompson, Rose (c); Wheeler, Dennis, Flint; Mason. Subs not used: Ridley, Kavanagh, Kelly, Read, Whiting, Johnston.
