Bryn-coming: Pompey complete Morris signing
Monday, 14th Jan 2019 22:12 by pompey-fans.com staff

New recruit Bryn Morris may have swapped one League One club for another - but is hopeful he will soon be exchanging League One for the Championship.

The 22-year-old midfielder completed his move from Shrewsbury to Fratton to become the Blues second recruit of the transfer window. He was last seen at Fratton scoring for Wycombe in the 2-2 draw earlier in the season.

Morris, seen by some as a replacement for Ben Thompson, told the Pompey website: 'I’ve had to move around a few places, but I want to make this my new home now and be successful. There will be people fighting for shirts and competition is healthy. Your standards have to be high otherwise someone else will take their chance.

'I’ll bring energy, desire and a good passing range. I played in big games for Shrewsbury last season and hopefully there are many more to come here. This is a massive club with a lot of history and this gaffer has taken teams up from this division in the past.

'I want to play as many games as I can and help get this club to the Championship because that’s where it belongs — or perhaps even higher. We’re sitting in a nice position at the moment, with a four-point lead at the top, but it means nothing right now.'

Morris follows former Rochdale midfield man Andy Cannon in heading to Pompey. He began his Pompey career by coming off the bench in Saturday's loss to Blackpool - Morris may go one better and start at Oxford on Saturday.
