Oxford have talent - and Pompey need to be sharper going forward

Pompey's next hosts have talent despite being in the relegation zone.

That's Kenny Jackett's assessment as he takes his team to Oxford bidding to get back on track after last Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Blackpool.

The Blues should have midfielders Bryn Morris and Ben Close and left-back Lee Brown available for the game in addition to the squad who tackled the Tangerines - minus Andre Green, who has had a surprise recall to Aston Villa.

Jackett says his team need to do better offensively against Oxford, who are 21st in the table. He told www.portsmouthfc.co.uk: 'We didn’t do enough going forward against Blackpool, although didn’t do badly defensively.

'It ended up being a narrow defeat and so we’ll be looking to find some cutting edge and creativity at Oxford. We want to make sure that we’re more incisive in the final third to be the goal threat that we usually are.

'I would suggest that most sides would know a lot about each other as they face them for a second time. There have been a couple of occasions when I’ve watched Oxford this season and there’s a lot of talent there.

'We know that they will be pushing as hard as they can to get away from that battle against relegation.'
