Pompey want another FA Cup campaign to cherish - but Harrogate could be tricky
Sunday, 10th Nov 2019 20:57 by pompey-fans.com staff

Last season Pompey took on Norwich and QPR - the latter twice - as they reached the fourth round of the FA Cup. This year the Blues would love to go as far again for the chance to mix it with sides from the top two divisions.

First, though, they have to negotiate a tricky trip to National League premier side Harrogate, who will be out to cause one of the shocks of the round in front of the BT Sport cameras.

Jackett said: 'The game is a difficult tie in its own right, especially when you look at Harrogate’s recent form and the fact we’re away from home. But if you want to get into the latter rounds and play one of the bigger boys — which we definitely do — then you have to come through different types of tie.

The Pompey boss said they had booked a 4G pitch to train over the weekend to help them prepare for the tie on an artificial surface.

He said: 'A lot of younger players are familiar with working on those pitches and I’ve spoken to people I know in the National League who say Harrogate’s is a good one. We can’t offer up any excuses and need to have the best attitude possible as we look to follow on from some better performances.

'Since the draw, we’ve watched Harrogate quite a bit and our knowledge will be good. We’ll be well prepared. There were some great games in the FA Cup last season and do we want another run this time? Definitely.

'It’s a chance, in front of the televisions cameras, to give a good account of ourselves and of Portsmouth Football Club.'
