FA Cup not up there with League One campaign for Pompey boss
Thursday, 23rd Jan 2020 19:29 by pompey-fans.com staff

Kenny Jackett admitted the FA Cup was not as important as League One as he looked ahead to Saturday's fourth round home tie with Barnsley.

The Pompey boss, as you'd expect. stressed that the league is the Blues' top priority but he also said they were keen to do their utmost to get through another round of the cup.

He told The News: ‘It’s not as important as the league — none of the cup competitions are. But when they come around you want to do well.

‘They’re big days, second half of the season, you try to win, get in the draw and try to get one of the big teams. This is a big one as well, with a Championship side coming down to Fratton Park.

‘But they’re one-off days and big challenges, and you have to do everything you can to get through and try to win.’

Full-back James Bolton is rated 50/50 for the cup tie after limping off in Tuesday's Football League Trophy tie with Scunthorpe, but Ross McCrorie is not quite ready to start. Cameron McGeehan cannot play as Barnsley are his parent club.
