Naylor keeps up the Pompey banter - but is missing normal Blues life
Friday, 3rd Apr 2020 22:33 by pompey-fans.com staff

Tom Naylor has spoken of his relief that his coronavirus test was negative - and of his keenness to get back on the pitch as soon as the pandemic restrictions are lifted.

Naylor normally shares a home with Andy Cannon but Cannon was one of the five Blues players to test positive. Even though Cannon is fine, Naylor has had to keep his distance.

The skipper told the Pompey website: 'I went back up north when the Accrington game was postponed, although had to come down to get some clothes and things before returning.

'We’ve been doing quite a lot of running and body workouts — it’s just about getting through it as best we can. But there is only so much you can do when you’re stuck indoors for most of the day and of course it’s not ideal.

'Most people know that I like my golf and I can’t do that at the minute — I’m finding that quite difficult! But we’ve got some WhatsApp groups, so the lads are all speaking. There’s a lot of banter and it’s nice to see what the boys are up to.

'The important thing is that we’ve all got to do what we’re told and stay indoors until we hear otherwise.'

Naylor said of Cannon's scare over the virus: 'I rang him straight away. He’d been feeling a bit tired just before the Peterborough game, so might have had it then. When the test came back, though, he was fine. He was obviously a bit down, but there were no symptoms.

'I couldn’t go and see him for obvious reasons and hadn’t had my results back at that point, so was a bit paranoid. It was a relief when (head physio) Bobby Bacic told me my test came back negative, but the important thing is that everyone’s feeling fine at the moment.'
