What's wrong with Derby?

Nothing , except they are in the Championship with no guarantee of promotion .

What are the 20 Premier League clubs missing ? . Including the one thats sold him for a bargain price and the one who saw him first hand at Wembley .

Maybe nothing, maybe he's not actually that good. Derby had him for six months and thought he was worth spending money on and saw him half a dozen times last season and thought he looked decent but perhaps not.

Of course wouldn't be the first, or even the thousandth time, a player has been flogged off cheaply, even dropped a division, only to come roaring back and be worth a shed load of money a couple of years later - if that's what happens. Just because a player drops a division or is sold cheaply or doesn't immediately get snapped up by a Premier League doesn't mean there's anything wrong with him.

Why has Will Hughes stayed at Derby when he could easily manufacture a move to the premier league?

Maybe it's because he's sensible and puts regular game time in a team and system that plays to his strengths above what league that team happens to be playing in. Maybe he knows Derby are a team on the up and WBA are a team in decline. He might have an agent that works more for the players career and best interests rather than status or fees.

Derby were excellent last year and have retained the bulk of their squad to mount another charge this season, he will be around other players close to his age playing for a manager that trusts him, wants him and will improve his game. Seems a no brainer to me. The fact he has gone for such a low fee is probably testament more to WBA being fckin stupid than what he is probably going to be worth after a few years at Derby.

Or he could be sh*t and he's fooled everybody at Derby that has seen him up close and regularly, as well as people at Watford that really rated him. Or fans like me that have seen him play 5-6 times where he has always stood out.

At the end of the day if you're going to take a 'risk' on how a player will turn out, you could do worse than sign a 21 year old English kid, proven in the league you're in that you've effectively had on trial for the last few months.

That is really dire luck. Fought like hell to get out of WBA and finally play the regular football he needed at 21, now this happens.

Not many young English players of his type around, hopefully won't be too much of a setback.

George Thorne injury worries played down by Derby County

But first-team coach Paul Simpson believes Thorne’s knocks are not too serious.

“He was limping and feeling a bit sorry for himself, hopefully he will be OK."

If there's one thing I hate it's a lad with a cruciate feeling sorry for himself!

They should void his contract. Players are never the same after cruciate injuries and don't deserve to be looked after.

Wonder whether he had a full medical after him being there for a while . Do they scan for weakness there? Didnt Charlie fail one before he joined us ?

He failed a medical at Hull due to him forgetting to tell them about an operation he had as a kid.

Horrible news this for Thorne, i really rate him but this will set him back a few years

It's not simply bad luck to have more than one ACL injury. Having had a previous ACL tear is a risk factor for future ACL injuries: 'if you've torn your ACL before, you are at a higher risk of tearing it again, or of injuring the other knee.'
