New kit 12:03 - Jul 22 with 7513 viewsHooparoo

Bloody awful. That big white panel on the back. Who's the cretin that dreamed that up?

Thought I'd have another proper look and maybe buy one but I just can't do it.

Poll: Where will we finish up next season?

Is that right about the blank space? i cant say ive ever taken any notice? stupid rule if thats right

It's not a rule. Never has been. Rumours of such a rule have come up whenever a team has a stupid solid back in the Premier League, but there's never been a season where all shirts have had solid backs.

Even the latest rumour says it's not a rule until next season so even if you were willing to join the unsubstantiated panic (c.r. ten point deduction) it wouldn't be relevant for this season's kits.

Of course what doesn't help is that someone at the club heard the rumour and cited it as fact in a recent kit survey on the official site, but I've been through every premier league rule document I can find and there's no hint of it. Nor have any other clubs mentioned it and there's been no noise made of the sort you'd expect to hear from fans when they found out their clubs's board agreed to it in a league meeting without consulting the fans.

And of course there's no need for such a rule. It doesn't help make more money for FIFA. Less in fact given that shirts restricted from decent designs won't sell as well making them worth far less money to potential shirt sponsors.

What gets me the most is that they feel the need to have it on all the shirts. The player's shirts I can just about forgive but why on the replicas? How many of us are going to be slotting the ball past Petr Cech on Sky HD or BT or whatever.

The world has gone mad!

Wouldnt be replicas technically if there not the same ;)

Technology advances, unfortunately humans do not.

It really is a ridiculous, not to mention fúcking pointless, rule from the dick-faced w@nkers at the head of the food chain. Seems they're solely there just to p!ss off us football fans permanently

It's probably for health and safety reasons

Christ, I hope you're right.

I certainly don't know, but assumed when QPR official site informed us that hoops were no longer to be allowed in the premier league from 2015/2016, that hoops would no longer be allowed in the premier league from 2015/2016.

Seems an odd thing to say on the official site, given the fact most of us are pissed off with no hoops in 2014/2015. Not the world's best pr to have got that wrong. It severely agitated me. The only reason I didn't harp on about it was for fear of another bolllocking from Clive!

Some clarification would be nice, so I can start sleeping again at night...

So when you see them from the back, all team's shirts look the same? That'll make it hard for the refs, won't it?

I did write to the Premier League, but didn't expect any response and didn't get one.

Eeerrrmmm... I think fans would be more inclined to look at the players' names on the back of the shirts, not the numbers!!!

Ridiculous decision if true!

It would seem other teams don't have a problem:

Southampton, Stoke & Sunderland (and Exeter too) fans..... do they all go on each others forums and call each other 'fake stripes' and bitch about who had their kit first?

You're not suggesting our club has lied to the fans are you ? Wot? Even after Tone said we'll be the most transparent club in the league?

I think that's a misquote, it's not the most transparent club in the league, but the club with the most transparent hoops in the league!

Not having kits that aren't plain anymore FFS. Who gives a fck if you can't quite see the numbers on the telly?

No doubt if any of the biggest clubs had stripes or hoops they wouldn't be doing this.

What do Barca have?

Dont know why we bother. .... but we do!

Simple solution, do not buy any shirts
0
New kit on 18:54 - Jul 23 with 1958 viewsTopCat34

Cannot see thinner hoops in the entire history of the club. Maybe 1976-77?

This rule by the PL does make them look like complete prat5, I have to agree. I live in America at the moment and some of the best things about our football are its history and traditions, to have all clubs having a blank patch on the bank of their shirts is ridiculous and as I see it another americanisation of the premier league, first names were allowed, then stupid numbers and now this...it's just going to become one big homogeneous w&nk fest.

The only saving grace would be if we could get the kit designers (nike) to do something retro around this shirt or similar so it doesnt look quite as sh1te as the current seasons patch - which was the suggestion I made on the survey:

New kit on 20:02 - Jul 23 with 1928 viewsandygg

This, the only reason we have a patch this season is because it's a generic off the peg kit that they had lying around the warehouse.
