With the kids now broke up from school what were/are you favourite holiday destinations?

For me when the kids were young camp sites in Europe - France, Italy & Spain fantastic for them and met some long lasting friends - Newcastle fanatic and Posh supporter.

Now they are grown up Gulf coast of Florida (Anna Maria Island in particular) is great along with Tuscany but best place for me by a distance is the Maldives.

Off to Malaysia in sept
KL then Langkawi. Family get together for Mrs DH significant birthday, eldest son on honeymoon (I hope he spares me the details) plus younger son, his wife and only grandchild coming from Sydney.
If it is as good as it looks could easily be the holiday of a lifetime. Never again.

At this time of year I can think of no better place to be than

Cork.

2 weeks of glorious clouds and rain and trying not to lose the kids on the beach because of the dense fog. When the rain gets too heavy you have to give up with the beach and head into the City Centre for a joyful afternoon "shopping" in Merchants Quay.

Update: Mrs travelled over with the girls yesterday and has told me they are off to Ardmore Beach before lunchtime today as a bright yellow disc emanating heat has been spotted high up in the sky, which for some reason is blue today and not grey.

I can guarantee you it will be long gone before I hit there on 11th August

I spent the summers of 2011 & 2012 freezing in the rain at Ballinskelligs in County Kerry. I loved it, no need for suncream and plenty of porter, I felt like my dad. The kids rebelled though, so it's Spain for us again this year. Ah well, I'll get over it.

Most enjoyable destinations for me has been Bali and Mauritius, haven't travelled afar in recent years since buying a villa in Almeria, lovely part of the world as BrightonHoop will testify but same destination every few months gets a bit boring. Just booked a 21st birthday holiday for daughter and her friend where she will be flying off to Singapore for three days, then KL for three days and finally onto Borneo for seven days! I really am not jealous, really, honest!

skiing every time for me - love the mountains. the Italian dolomites are something else.

if I did summer holidays i would still go back to the mountains for some fresh air!

Why stop now, just when I'm hating it
Poll: Is it essential that QPR stay in the Borough of H&F?

if you are staying in and around europe - Croatia. A few nights in Dubrovnik and then get out onto the islands - Hvar is popular and not yet plagued by the nouveau russians.

Poll: Remy - can he play in the playoffs - who's opening post is the best?
