How much do you spend on football attendance? 09:12 - Aug 20 with 2888 viewsTGRRRSSS

After reading the Fulham thread below and the usual thing about Fulhams attendences be it home or away it got me thinking just how much per season one would spend on football related activity (going to games not Sky subscription)

You have match ticket, and food, drink and travel costs and depends on all sorts your locations, your teams location and of course if you go to away games the extra cost of travelling often much further distances than for a home game.
As I am not a St er (Member though) I am not sure exactly my costs for the season as will depend on how many games I get to, but at say £40 quid for a ticket, then about £13 for train travel (unless I drive by car then not sure) then add another 20 on food and drink thats nearly 70 quid.
This adds maybe a meal at a pub and a couple of drinks somewhere along the line.

£600 on ST.

Then each home match i estimate:
£8 petrol
£3 programme for young Crowe
£18 in pub
£6 on pre-purchased food

My ST was £600 and my lads (2) tickets range from £25 to £30 at home, more if away

first two games this season -

Home v Hull
Petrol £20, Lunch £10 (chips etc outside Springbok), Beers before and after £50
Total £80 plus tickets for 3 of us totals £162

Away v Spurs
Train £111.30, Lunch £30 (Fry up in Cafe) Beers £96, Tickets £123 = Total £360.30

It soon adds up!!

I reckon I spend about 3 grand a season on average at the moment.

As mentioned already, it'd be worth every penny if you could take the football part out of the day.
I see more of some of my mates now than ever before purely because they got season tickets a few years back. On top of that I've met people at the R's I never would've before and they'll be lifelong friends.

Worth every penny and another reason for me to get out of bed and do 14 hours every day.

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Going to the game is the excuse to get pissed in far flung places of the country

I would never of visited ( and got drunk) in lovely places like Yeovil , Chesterfield , Barnsley , Burnley etc if wasn't for football

I guess I just haven't latched on to the drinking culture of this country

Saves me a fortune though!!

I seem to now average 5 Hibs games, 3/4 Scotland home and 1 QPR (last two seasons now again).
Boat, fuel and accommodation for Hibs is approx £250 match ticket £25.
Scotland games I go with a group so Boat etc is down to about £80 but two days on the booze brings the total back up to £250 with tickets now about £35.
Did the QPR trips the last two times on night train down and night bus up (murder btw) so it is actually quite cheap, think I got from Orkney and back for £150.
Therefore spend approx £2500. Within the Hibs games there can be occasions I'm South anyway and will always take in a game but likewise any cup semis and finals will be extra so swings and roundabouts

I reckon about £50 for a home game and £80-100 for an away game. My travel into London is already paid for with my season ticket for work so it'll be match ticket (& booking fee!), a few quid on the oyster card and about a tenner on food/drink. Away games obviously add in the travel to wherever we may be playing. Over the season I probably do about £600 incl my membership card just picking & choosing about 6-8 games.

Poll: Who’s better?

W12. Aren't you the Travel Coordinator for your little firm? So football legitimises your train spotting tendencies as well. Without QPR you wouldn't be able to justify the hours you spend on the internet trawling those specialist sites.

And what about your mob's policy of first train out and last train back to save £5 on the train fare whilst spending an extra £25 on Carlsberg Tops. Surely a false economy?

Probably best to remember the chauffeured door to door service you're getting on Sunday before thinking about making me persona non grater. And I also raise you my Wigan all inclusive service.
