Jordan Rudess's Musician's alternative to the Ice Bucket Challenge. 11:27 - Aug 28 with 2179 viewssaxbend

Anyone else feel like having a go? As I'm a saxophonist, not a pianist I was never going to pull this off as well as he did but it's all good fun anyway.

And far far more difficult than throwing ice over your head.

I can't watch this at work right now but I saw something where a smug old chap was playing a keyboard riff in like 11/8 or something while talking and then to make it worse you had to add in your right hand and be really good at jazz or something.

That won't really work for me as a guitarist unless I literally become Stanley Jordan overnight.

That's the one. Except it's in 13/8, any instrument is allowed as long as it's possible to talk while playing, and adding the right hand has to be optional because it's bloody hard unless you're a specialist jazz pianist (I'm not, so I didn't quite manage that).

Well, I've managed to dodge several ice bullets recently (which is good as I'm not doing shit unless one of these c**ts can tell me who Lou Gehrig is and even then I'm not doing it because f**k icey water).

I've never been remotely interested in Baseball, but Stephen Hawking is an obvious example of the effects of Motor Neurone Disease.

Aye, but he misses out the naming rights to Lou. I'm constantly amazed that Hawking is still alive. He's a legit genius though. I love the way he dumbs down his books and I still have to read everything at least twice before it sinks in.

Jordan Rudess is a prick thinking about it. This is like doing a ballet challenge for people born with no feet. The ice bucket thing is a bunch of shit but even the mighty Hawking is capable of being drenched. Nimbly running his fingers up a keyboard is impossible for him and as for using programming his voice synth unit at the same time? Not happening.

I'd like to ask Jordan to explain quantum physics to me using only the muscles in his right cheek, the inconsiderate odd time signature loving bumflap.

Well you have two options.

1) Find a way to either talk or play it through an alternative orifice.

2) Do what I did and try it on the piano but not get as far as the independent hands jazz improv bit, which frankly is bloody hard.
