two questions:
if you are famous (whatever that means nowadays), or believe you are famous, why would you have nude pictures of yourself on your mobile or computer?
surely, backing up to a cloud is something that is no longer a realistic choice, as anyone who can turn on a computer is seemingly capable of hacking into this virtual bank of information. surely, a better way to do it is just an external hard drive with a password that isn't 1234 or your birthday. |
Technically that is one question and a statement. 
Anyone who takes pics like these are going to share them with boyfriend / girlfriend so they are out of your control straight away. And anyone who thinks that deleting something means its gone is an idiot and deserves to get hacked. Deleting something only opens up the space to be overwritten. |  | | |

No one likes a victim blamer.
People are allowed to do privately whatever they want. The fault is solely with the scumbag who stole people's private possessions and attempted to flog them.
Further more, in Kate Upton's case she said she had deleted them and was unaware Apple were still holding a back up copy against her desires |  | | |

Totally agree with you that this is a disgusting thing to happen to them and what people do in the privacy of their own homes is up to them and not for anyone else. But they are aware that there are scumbags out there who will willingly raid these files (just as a scumbag burglar or car thief will steal).
As I understand it Apple only store things in trash for 30 days. After that it is gone. I think we need to wait and see if this is an Apple fault or the fact that something was recovered from the phone itself.
Personally anything I want kept private is stored on a hard drive at home that is not linked to the net in any way and is not backed up to a cloud. Come on celebs it is simple security. Treat things like this as you would bank details etc. | | | |
