Did not mean anything by using the word ' immigrants ' the word is often used to describe the hoards trying to get into the country via the lorrys in France. We will have to treat the scots as we would do anyone from outside the EU trying to get into England, wont we ?
As for spouting hateful bile ?????????????
you will have to explain that one to me.
Sorry QPR1882, I wasn't charging you with that, even though with re-reading my post, it would seem that way. humble apologies.

As I understand it the GBP is a tradeable currency and if they wish they can use it and there is fck all Carney or anyone else can do about it.
You can also be sure after all the hot air and bluff of campaigning, if the outcome is Yes a seperate UK would also enter a formal currency agreement. It would be naive to believe otherwise. There is far too much wealth invested on both sides of the border and the City would demand it. Governments come and go and it's money that really calls the shots.

Don't be so sure, much of the wealth will head south after independence because the BofE and the remaining government of the UK will not underwrite or be responsible for the future debt of Scotland. It would be like giving your brother a credit card and letting him run it to its limit and paying it off for him, time and again, therefore the tax payers of the rest of the UK would once again be subsidising Scotland and the notion that Scotland would be an independent nation would be total bollox.
And as for Salmond stating that he would set up a sovereign wealth fund like the Norwegians did with their oil revenue, well, that boat has well and truly sailed many years ago, there just is not enough left and on top of that just look at the tax take in Norway, which including national insurance ranges from 35.2% to 55.2%, this is what the Scots will have in store for them once the SNP decide that they cannot politically start charging for prescriptions, keeping pensions at there current level and keeping uni places free.

The concentration on business and the economy by the No campaign hasn't worked. So many Scots (and people anywhere outside the South-East of England) are wards of the State, either as claimants, or public sector employees, or in businesses trading mostly with the public sector, that arguments about the impact on investment, tax receipts or the pound are at best totally irrelevant to them, or may even stir resentment. If it's good for business it must be bad for me, somehow.

they really dont think it through the cost to set up all there goverment department plus they have to open embasis all over the world. but they wont bother just hire an office in the british embasy and defence wont need any as if they did get invaded they know we would come to the rescue.

That's something that's been allowed to slide by without much discussion from what i can see. They talk about getting rid of Trident and saving £x billion on their share of defence spending, but he doesn't get pushed on conventional spending as a substitute, in terms of precise amounts. So the reality is that it's nothing at all to do with Trident, just opting out of defence spending pretty much completely. That's fine if that's what they are signing up for, but it needs to be put on the record during the so-called campaign. It isn't.

Lots of if's and but's I hope they stay.
However if they go and somehow get involved with open borders then border controls will have to go up.
You only have to look at Calais to see why.
There's no possible way that we could patrol that border in the same way that Calais currently operates. Simply impossible. There's no satisfactory solution to that problem, if it arises, which doesn't in some way or other involve an English boot on a Scottish head, hopefully only metaphorically speaking. But the EU will probably have fallen apart by then anyway as it surely can't last too much longer in its current form?
as far i can see salmond just wants to keep all of the things that benefit him and not the debt etc.. none of it appears to be very well thought out, he prefers to emotionally blackmail and hoodwink the scottish public rather than actually answer the questions that really matter. i can only see a huge sh1tstorm heading towards an independent scotland under salmond.

hear hear, I'm coming with you. I do wonder why people's brains seem to be permenantly locked into this disturbing tabloid hype and lies. Do we not teach people to think for themselves? I wish the people of Scotland all the best, whatever their future holds, but when people's main worry about a splitting of a nation is that illegal immigration may increase, based on no evidence for it what-so-ever? Well, I'm embarrassed to be English at times. Good luck Scotland, but if you go, can we still be friends?
Incredibly unbelievable that there are still some about who truly believe that the extreme mass immigration crises we are currently experiencing (and without positive action now will get far worse) isn't actually happening!!!. Equally unbelievable is still using the same old lines blaming tabloid press and right wing scaremongering yadda yadda yadda. Its here! its now! its happening! the vast majority of us are experiencing it! and it will get far worse! OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT STATISTICS POSTED 2 WEEKS AGO - 25% of all births in the UK were born to mothers born oversees! Ferry's at Calais being stormed by benefit seekers (So who's lying? where is the 'no evidence whatsoever' coming from? Get your heads out of the sand and vote in a party with some balls for once instead of this spineless government and opposition parties we currently have

this thread is certainly going into dangerous territory - border controls and refugees, illegal immigrants, EU powers etc - Let's face it a lot of it is absolute rubbish. The Ukraine has borders, it it part of the EU not that this has been any deterrent to Putin. Scotland voting yes is a mere side show in this entire debate - those willing to get into the country seem to do so with relative ease and then seem to be able to evade discovery and expulsion. As previous posters have said we need some politicians with nuts.
My Dear Jock Brothers and Sisters.. on 15:23 - Sep 10 by kensalriser
Pretty sure that Ukraine isn't part of the European Union.
FFS of course it isn't part of the EU. That was the bloody problem - the EU and the USA wanted to sneak it in somehow and Putin has understandably stuck up two fingers to them. Anyhow that's nothing to do with Scotland.

Indeed, but it's another good chance to indulge in some johnny forriner bashing. There are hordes of the blighters. I saw loads last time I went abroad, scurrying about like cockroaches they were.

'25% of all births in the UK were born to mothers born oversees!'
OK, but most of them were fertilized by Holloway.
Incidentally, my mother was born overseas. It was called the British Empire at the time and my grandfather was in the army. For the same reason the father of my niece - i.e. my brother - was born in Hong Kong.

Once Scotland goes independent you just watch them causing trouble on the borders claiming that they want a bit of land grab to protect those ethnic Scottish from the tyrant of England. First it will be Berwick and then they will look to annex Carlisle. Don't trust that slimy little dictator, Salmond.
