QPR Chairman Tony Fernandes issues statement relating to recent press coverage involving Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt …
QPR CHAIRMAN Tony Fernandes has issued the following statement relating to recent press coverage involving Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt:

‘As a club, we are fully aware of stories in the press over the last few days regarding Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt.

We regret these issues being played out in public and both Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt have been notified of our disappointment regarding their handling of the situation. I have spoken to them both personally.

On behalf of the club, I would like to apologise to the QPR supporters for the embarrassment this has caused and confirm that the issue has been dealt with internally.

The club’s entire focus is now on the Aston Villa fixture next Monday and hopefully after a tough few days we can turn a negative into a positive and build on Sunday’s improved display.’

The club will be making no further comment.

Can everyone just stop referencing the '3 stone' thing like Harry meant it literally.

It was obvious to me that he was exaggerating to make a point.

Plus, is that the important takeaway from that presser? Harry airing that sh1t in public was wrong, Adel's attitude towards his club was wrong. Maybe now both can improve and move on.

I think both have spent their last season at our club, if Tone is smart, he'll be looking round for another guy to take over in July, and put these two behind us.

Then this forum will be dead, or at least back to 'I found this new cheese, you guys should try it'. That works for me... I like cheese.

Poll: Will we stay up?

You just don't get it do you ? We All know it was an exaggeration for effect for God's sake but a simple apology on Monday morning would have avoided all this bad publicity but no he has to dive into the deep end with the tonsillitis rant.

Harry loves the press , the press always know they can get a story or two from him.
Regardless of the energetic Harry on the touch, ine sun he's given up , to old , past it not up to the fight anymore. He knows he's fecked up his recent comment about pre season , which he organised , levels of fitness , which he organises , Adel its Harry's way of admitting he's had enough and he ain't got the bottle to walk away , lose on Monday and the board have a simple decision to make quick phone call to Harry and come and collect your stuff and feck off.

Poll: which is your favouite foot

Today should have been the start of sorting all this out. Redknapp should have called Adel in and said Look we've both said things we shouldn't have but it's done now, if you want to play for me and this club go out there and show me how good you are. redknapp should then have gone on the training pitch and watched and Adel should have given his best and shown he should be in the team.

But no what happens, redknapp spends the morning talking to the press with more stories, digging at Adel, telling stories about him going to a casino 2 days before a match 2 years ago and helping to sell newspapers. Thats not acceptable in my book, yet again self interest over the interest of the club.

Adel is an idiot, wonderful player but we all know his attitude to running and showing effort is pathetic and for all his good points he will never be the player he should be due to that attitude but Redknapp is 68 years old and telling some of the most bare faced lies i've ever heard, Sandro injured celebrating a goal, he wasn't, adel 3 stone over weight, he's not, only had 12 players in Ireland, we had 20. I'm sick of it all. I remember the days when we had Holloway talking with pride and passion about our cave, our club and being proud to be a part of it, he would get so worked up he almost cried. He may not have been the best manager but he cared and created a spirit in the club which took us a long way, we are so far away from being that club again it is devastating.

It's all about self interest with the pair of them and the welfare of QPR a long way down the list of priorities. That comes from the top as well. You have Fernandes slating Taarabt on twitter then issuing a statement telling the pair of them to keep it in private. We have a centre half selling books, hats etc and others like Green and Barton appearing on tv or radio at any opportunity they can get. No discipline at this club from top to bottom, it's an absolute circus, not a football club anymore.

I hope Les Ferdinand can bring some common sense back to the club and start making this about QPR again and not about individual agendas. At the moment we could sack Redknapp tomorrow but the ethos of the club wouldn't change, it's been the same way for years now, managers come and go the circus continues.

Thanks for Wembley Harry and thanks for the memories Adel, now can we please have a team and manager who give a shit about the club rather than themselves. The pair of them could play a part in that and start putting the club first and if they did that they would both do very well this season, but they won't and neither of them will be at the club come 2015 imo.

And who might this manager that gives a shit about QPR be may I ask ,And while we are at it who might any players that give a shit about QPR be. I am afraid the days of any player or manager giving a shit about the club they sign for are long gone. They are only in it for one thing and one thing only.ANY GUESSES WHAT THAT IS.

If at first you dont succeed, pack up and f**k off home.

You get players and managers who care by having a club with self respect not a club that sells it's self as well we're not Man united but we are in London and pay well

i'm sick of it all, fed up about it being about individuals and not the club.

for me last season I never saw the point in sacking him when the clamour started as we were always going to make the playoffs and i thought he'd motivate himself for that and get us up which he just about did. Thats not to say I ever thought he was a great manager but he did a decent job last year in putting together a team which got us promoted. I'll always give him credit for that.

I also thought he signed quite well in the summer and still think the players he brought in could keep us up but it's been pretty poor on the pitch so far and as I've said on here plenty of times I don't expect him to last till Christmas but think the club will give him until Burnley to turn it around which is not impossible to do.

I still don't think it's fair to blame him for everything as some do and give all the credit to other people when it goes well but you are always going to get extreme views on a subject people are so passionate about. I'd have been the same 10 years ago and am sure i was ranting about managers and players but am a lot more relaxed and try to be more objective these days, a trait that doesn't win many friends on here but it's pointless trying to be something i'm not to gain favour.

If in some bizarre reality I was in charge at QPR I'd change managers now but that wouldn't be the magic answer to turn things around, so much more needs to be done to make this club a success and my fear with the inevitable sacking is that we'll make the same mistakes all over again hiring the biggest available name rather than working out what we want from the manager and finding the best man for the job. Until the club changes how they do things I genuinely don't think Redknapp staying or going would make the slightest bit of difference. My only hope going forward is that Ferdinand coming in has the power to make an impact at the club rather than be someone to sign autographs on match day. That could be a real turning point for us if we give him the chance and freedom to change the club back to what it used to be.

Spot on Dave. Arry needs to lead, it's his job to. I was astounded he cameback at Adel today through the press. TF needed to intervene. Should ever have come to this. Oh well, onwards and we can only go upwards. Bring on the Villains.

Harry should understand that a nice chat with the Press is like having dinner with a crocodile. It feels great to be there, but the crocodile always eats last...

Great couple of posts daveb. I really rate your opinions on QPR even if you do play devils advocate sometimes its not a bad thing on this site.
Like you,I've always tried to back Rednapp as i think he did do a decent job last season given the circumstances of the previous season. I had high hopes for this season but frankly Rednapp hasn't delivered. What's wound me up the most is the excuses and lies. I don't trust him anymore. I also don't have any faith in Fernandes to take the club forward either which is my main concern. What i do know and trust is when Taraabt goes on a football pitch, I'll see some entertaining football. That will do me. 90 minutes of football, in blue n white hoops.
I think Hoddle should get the job now.

One positive i can see from this is it shows Adel does actually want to play for us and does care. He's a natural player and plays on instinct rather then following patterns of play from the training pitch, that's probably why he's get bored of training, its just not his style, never was, never will be. But he will perform his best in games. Fitness is one thing, match fit is another and he wont get match fit not getting games. Rednapps missed a trick there.

I'm rambling.

POTD, Dave.

You almost couldn't make it up, the consistency with which we allow ourselves to stumble from one PR/Playing disaster to another.

Unfortunately I just can't see how Ferdinand can "change the club back to what it used to be". We're way to far gone down that road unfortunately especially whilst TF is still with us. The best we can realistically hope for is that he can stop the slide, pull the reigns in and get a strategy sorted out.

I've got the Power.

As ever the club was crying out for a bit of leadership and at last TF showed it, even allowing for his error of judgement on Twitter previously.

The irony isn't lost on me that after our best performamnce of the season we then have our biggest media fall out.

Harry started this public row and because the press still love him, he's managed to have the last word. Problem is it just makes Harry look more stupid. I wouldn't mind having a sore throat for a week or so if it meant I would lose 3 stone. I get the feeling if the club hadn't stepped in Harry would have kept going at it. I'm sure some of what he said about Taraabt is true and Taraabt should be motivated to train, but he isn't and its Harry's job to ensure that he does. Like some others Harry has failed to manage Taraabt and by opening this up in public it just underlines the fact. As far as I'm concerned its time for both of them to go and stop making the club's poor reputation even worse.

I'm getting tired of the love-in between Harry and the media and how he has an excuse for everything and takes responsibility for nothing.
He is the manager of a club bottom of its league with players he has responsibility for bringing in, coaching and training - so Tony Fernandes whose fault is that?

Who's Next?

In spite of the proper apology by our Tone to the fans yesterday, Sky Sports are still running the Fatty row today as a ribbon headline on their Good Morning Sports Fans Channel on 401.

Bagpuss is telling as many porkies as Blair now, and probably has as many houses and as big a bank account as him.

Yer couldn't make it up. Walk the plank, 'Arry.

Best statement to come out of the club in years.

Shame Tone ruined it with that stoopid tweet over the weekend!

"Best statement to come out of the club in years". I totally agree. It set the right tone. Regardless of who is right or wrong, this row should not play out publically and in any case, they should both be concentrating on the job for which they are paid millions.

Adel and 'Arry have two things in common: They are both extremely selfish and neither of them has - yet - made a meaningful contribution to keeping QPR in the Premiership, also know as the job they are paid to do.

I think Redknapp is maneuvering a way out of the club without losing face or taking the blame for the mess we are in.
That outburst on Sunday was out of order. Keep problems in house and don't embarrass the club. But for me it went deeper than that. It seemed that he had lost it and wants an excuse to have a bust up.
Really starting to get P'd off with Redknapp now. He has proved over 2 seasons that he is not as good as he thinks he is.

I've been thinking that about soggy bollox for at least the past year. I really have been getting the feeling he'd prefer the tin tac in order to get paid off, rather than walking away and picking up no extra coin.

I have to agree with you mate. It's hard to believe that a player Arry thought worthy of an appearance a week and half ago against west ham is now 3 stone over weight, etc. By saying that he's actually undermining himself because he's admitting he played someone who was over-weight and can't even run around for the reserves.

This statement also reaffirms my thought that the one thing this board has got really right is that they are balanced in their relationships with the players and the manager, Hughes kicked Barton out of the club but the Board maintained a relationship, same with Tarrabt - at the end of the day, in the case of Tarrabt (and Barton to a lesser extent), you don't want to lose good players just because the manager doesn't like them.

Worth noting that he could have had tonsillitis the week before the WHU game so he lost all the weight and put it back on by last weekend. So if Harry is right, he played a player with tonsillitis and Adel's body is a medical curiosity with incredible feats of weight gain and loss.
