QPR Chairman Tony Fernandes issues statement relating to recent press coverage involving Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt …
QPR CHAIRMAN Tony Fernandes has issued the following statement relating to recent press coverage involving Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt:

‘As a club, we are fully aware of stories in the press over the last few days regarding Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt.

We regret these issues being played out in public and both Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt have been notified of our disappointment regarding their handling of the situation. I have spoken to them both personally.

On behalf of the club, I would like to apologise to the QPR supporters for the embarrassment this has caused and confirm that the issue has been dealt with internally.

The club’s entire focus is now on the Aston Villa fixture next Monday and hopefully after a tough few days we can turn a negative into a positive and build on Sunday’s improved display.’

The club will be making no further comment.

i'm sick of it all, fed up about it being about individuals and not the club.

for me last season I never saw the point in sacking him when the clamour started as we were always going to make the playoffs and i thought he'd motivate himself for that and get us up which he just about did. Thats not to say I ever thought he was a great manager but he did a decent job last year in putting together a team which got us promoted. I'll always give him credit for that.

I also thought he signed quite well in the summer and still think the players he brought in could keep us up but it's been pretty poor on the pitch so far and as I've said on here plenty of times I don't expect him to last till Christmas but think the club will give him until Burnley to turn it around which is not impossible to do.

I still don't think it's fair to blame him for everything as some do and give all the credit to other people when it goes well but you are always going to get extreme views on a subject people are so passionate about. I'd have been the same 10 years ago and am sure i was ranting about managers and players but am a lot more relaxed and try to be more objective these days, a trait that doesn't win many friends on here but it's pointless trying to be something i'm not to gain favour.

If in some bizarre reality I was in charge at QPR I'd change managers now but that wouldn't be the magic answer to turn things around, so much more needs to be done to make this club a success and my fear with the inevitable sacking is that we'll make the same mistakes all over again hiring the biggest available name rather than working out what we want from the manager and finding the best man for the job. Until the club changes how they do things I genuinely don't think Redknapp staying or going would make the slightest bit of difference. My only hope going forward is that Ferdinand coming in has the power to make an impact at the club rather than be someone to sign autographs on match day. That could be a real turning point for us if we give him the chance and freedom to change the club back to what it used to be.

Brilliant post.

I think though that the problem is at the very top of the Club. Tony Fernandes could have put a stop to the row before it started, but what does he do? Goes on Twitter to back up Harry. Of course Tarbs wanted to defend himself.

We have a chairman that runs to the media at the first opportunity, who has employed a manager who does just the same. Add to this the likes of Ferdinand, Barton et al. Everyone is in it for themselves.
Things seem to be going back to the bad days of Tango and Cash. The club is an utter shambles again - and the buck must stop at the very top.

You just don't get it do you ? We All know it was an exaggeration for effect for God's sake but a simple apology on Monday morning would have avoided all this bad publicity but no he has to dive into the deep end with the tonsillitis rant.

You don't speak for everyone on here, believe me there are plenty who are taking the 3 stone thing literally.

As for the rest of your post, I agree.

Today should have been the start of sorting all this out. Redknapp should have called Adel in and said Look we've both said things we shouldn't have but it's done now, if you want to play for me and this club go out there and show me how good you are. redknapp should then have gone on the training pitch and watched and Adel should have given his best and shown he should be in the team.

But no what happens, redknapp spends the morning talking to the press with more stories, digging at Adel, telling stories about him going to a casino 2 days before a match 2 years ago and helping to sell newspapers. Thats not acceptable in my book, yet again self interest over the interest of the club.

Adel is an idiot, wonderful player but we all know his attitude to running and showing effort is pathetic and for all his good points he will never be the player he should be due to that attitude but Redknapp is 68 years old and telling some of the most bare faced lies i've ever heard, Sandro injured celebrating a goal, he wasn't, adel 3 stone over weight, he's not, only had 12 players in Ireland, we had 20. I'm sick of it all. I remember the days when we had Holloway talking with pride and passion about our cave, our club and being proud to be a part of it, he would get so worked up he almost cried. He may not have been the best manager but he cared and created a spirit in the club which took us a long way, we are so far away from being that club again it is devastating.

It's all about self interest with the pair of them and the welfare of QPR a long way down the list of priorities. That comes from the top as well. You have Fernandes slating Taarabt on twitter then issuing a statement telling the pair of them to keep it in private. We have a centre half selling books, hats etc and others like Green and Barton appearing on tv or radio at any opportunity they can get. No discipline at this club from top to bottom, it's an absolute circus, not a football club anymore.

I hope Les Ferdinand can bring some common sense back to the club and start making this about QPR again and not about individual agendas. At the moment we could sack Redknapp tomorrow but the ethos of the club wouldn't change, it's been the same way for years now, managers come and go the circus continues.

Thanks for Wembley Harry and thanks for the memories Adel, now can we please have a team and manager who give a shit about the club rather than themselves. The pair of them could play a part in that and start putting the club first and if they did that they would both do very well this season, but they won't and neither of them will be at the club come 2015 imo.

Superb statement, that sums up how I feel perfectly, bar one thing: the comment about Green.

I may have missed something but I don't think he has stepped out of line. In my view, all Green has done is to express his frustration at the lack of preparation and the abject performances he sees unfolding in front of him. He has been treated worse than anyone currently at the club and has more reason to complain than anyone, yet he has shown total commitment and just got on with things while others tout their books, publically slag off colleagues, bend the truth, trot out excuses and generally fail to put in the effort required of people who are paid millions for their services.

Great post.

Something had to be said from the club.
The only positive i can see is if Rednapp apologises and plays Taraabt against the Villains and Taraabt works his nuts off on the training pitch and bags us the winner.
Wont happen though will it... Rednapp apologizing.

Didn't even get the chance according to Adel.

He said Harry asked to see him Monday morning and he refused.

Maybe, just maybe it could have been sorted if Adel had turned up to that meeting?

Taarabt has this afternoon posted a picture on Instagram of himself on an exercise bike. "The little boy from Chile" AKA Eduardo Vargas has commented with a picture of a boar. Seems likely that HR's stock has fallen amongst at least some in the squad.

Well said.

Imagine if we could have someone in charge who had an ounce of that passion? Combined with the resources the club has access to through the whole ownership structure we have had (and continue to have for now) a golden opportunity to secure a successful future for years to come.
It will be a crying shame if that opportunity gets lost in the pettiness and mismanagement of it all.

Jamie,

you seem to be inferring something here which is based on nonsense or wild susposition at best.

Tune Group and Air Asia in particular seem to be doing quite well at the moment, not least of which because of Malaysian Airlines problems seem to have diveretd quite a bit of short haul traffic.

On Caterham he sold out of that buisness seemingly at a profit overall, despite pumping in lots of cash to keep it going, but his business engagement and any liabilities ended once he sold the company and he has no obligations to Malaysian banks over Caterhams collapse since he sold it well before then.

I think he could do without the civil war at QPR mind you, but that is just because its simply embarressing and counter productive.

Ah, you see your problem here was that you assume it was a relevant and meaningful post. It's easier to consider it as a deliberate attempt to wind people up and create extra controversy out of nothing. Makes much more sense then.

With all due respect if you think he made a profit out of Caterham you are kidding yourself. Kolles took on the team as a going concern.

Was merely suggesting there would be plenty of negative stories coming out in the next few months as the team folds, which with everything else going on makes the QPR nonsense deeply unwelcome.
