The QPR side of the story

http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/football-wls-qpr-say-public-supports-old-oak-

Has anyone else been to the site?

It's not fit for anything. It would need to be nuked and not just pubs and shops built but EVERYTHING, there is literally nothing around there apart from whores, drug dealers and guns...lots of guns. It's exceedingly dangerous and next to even more dangerous areas.

It is fine for a dodgy second hand car dealer that sells high millage ex fleet motors to people with poor credit ratings. Theres a reason they own 40 odd acres..no one else wanted it...until now.

It is unsuitable for a small family club

so they set up a limited company, big scream!

posturing , there will be plenty of it over the next few months

I agree. The HS2 and Crossrail connections to this site are decades away. Meanwhile
it remains a messy brownfield site in the middle of nowhere sandwiched between railway tracks. Any residential development will require massive upfront costs in demolition, decontamination, and infrastructure. Anyone wanting to do a scheme here
would be gagging for a stadium deal to share those costs and kickstart the whole project. That is how most of the new stadiums of across the country got built.

We all know CarGiant's position in all of this, but we don't really know QPR's.

QPR have said several times that they have agreements in place with land owners at OOC, they may even already own land there. If we have agreements in place for say 100acres of land at OOC, then in theory does that put us at an advantage to Car Giant who own 47acres - who would the local authorities & Boris want to lead the development, a high profile football club with quick access to 100acres of land at OOC or a low profile company that owns 47acres. I think CarGiant have said that a compulsory purchase order would not work on their land, I'm no expert on these things but if we got the go ahead as the preferred developer & quickly purchased 100acres of land then are we in a position to serve a compulsory purchase order on CarGiant?

All hypothetical but it could be the reality of the situation & why the club still seems confident of the move going ahead.

There's been hints that the club already has an interest in 100 acres. At some stage I would expect there to be a deal between QPR and Car Giant - probably with us in the driving seat. Regenerations is going to go ahead and we already have the support of the Mayor and the GLA.

It could end up like Pride Park where the stadium acted as a catalyst for the rest of the development on what was previously old railway sidings, parts of which were heavily polluted.

I'd be surprised if it gets sorted out in the next 5 years, though.

So as not to create a new thread, did anyone else get an email from "New Queens Park" this morning?

It seems that the club's latest spin on this is (and probably trying to differentiate itself from any cargiant proposal):

1. "The stadium will be the beating heart of the huge regeneration...and not just another dormitory town of buy-to-let flats leaving little for the local community" - aka Cargiant doesnt have a football team (maybe a five aside one).

2. "QPR need to move on from Loftus Road and Old Oak is the only realistic place for us to move" aka please support us local councils.

Didn't they say the same about Canary Wharf?

Mittal needs to start calling in some favours, he has invested a lot of money into London.
