God, I was so totally hooked on the original trilogy when I was 10yrs of age, but the next three left me cold.
I'm wondering whether with JJ Abrams at the helm the new one(s) may do for the franchise what Casino Royale and Skyfall did for the James Bond series of films, make it a bit more grown up.
It's great that they appear to keep the original spaceship designs and combining that with modern filming techniques and CGI, these could turn out to be great - as long as they have written a great script.
Might even warrant another trip out to the cinema - don't do that much these days.

As I said in another thread, I hope not, its a kids film, they are all kids films and it would be sad to deny the crop of 8 year olds the joy of it (given they buy the toys, play the games, watch the toons) by making it over violent and mature so it gets a 12 in some misplaced attempt to appease the fanboys who will never be happy because they are no longer 8 9 or 10

Thats what they did with Batman, the last 3 films were brilliant but I can't show them to my kid due to the violence in them
