Yun Suk Going Backwards 10:12 - Dec 16 with 10100 viewsWestbourneR

YSY's form has been slowly tailing off for about 5 games but I thought it really hit the bottom last night. He was poor. His touch has deserted him.

It's a real shame and I wonder what can be done? We can't drop him as that means Traore in the team.

I would say that if a player is 24, an established international and played in the World Cup finals, then blaming the manager/coach for below par performances is ridiculous.

He's played 9 fckin premiership games. I have played almost as many games in this league as him. I think he's got less than 25 appearances in the english leagues, including loans. Maybe the fact he is an experienced international has contributed to his positive start, but it doesnt mean he's going to be Cafu every time he plays.

But then by your own post the question is why he consistently performs to a high enough standard to play at a WC finals and hold down the international starting place for a decent national side, yet apparently isn't reproducing that consistency in the PL...

If it's not the management, there's very few other things it can be.

Another poor performance from Yun today prior to going off injured.

That early promise slowly seems to be evaporating.

Still ok going forward but defensively he had a shocker, especially one moment where Sessegnon got the better of him.

Evaporating??? Knock it on the head will ya? He has 10 Premiership games. true, his form has seemed to dip as expectations rise. But I think that, if fact, it is actually just the case that our expectations are higher and that he is, behaving exactly how a young player would be expected to behave in their first season of competitive league play --- inconsistently. He offers a lot going forward and overlaps really well on the left. At the same time, he is prone to being skinned by talented Premiership wingers. remember, if he were the finished product then he probably wouldn't have come to us on a free transfer and low wages. He needs our patience so that he can gain experience and cut down on the mistakes.

Maybe the injury he got against Leicester was worse than thought and with the lack of specialist options at LB (no offence whatsoever meant to Clint) he's been brought back too soon.

Up until the Leicester game and right from Huddersfield away last season he's been quality every time I've seem him. So IMHO it's more likely an injury is hampering him rather than he's suddenly forgot how to play,

If he is carrying an injury, can we recall Jack Robinson from Huddersfield ?

He didn't come on a free, we paid an undisclosed fee for him.

I stand corrected. Doesn't change the point though. My point is that highly talented young players who are ready for primetime, the finished product, and proven quantities do not come to QPR. We are not the glamour team. We are not perennial Champions League. We are an unglamorous struggler and a young talented player like Yun only comes to QPR because he is not quite ready for primetime, not quite the finished product, and an unproven quantity.

So far, Yun appears to have been given time to settle into the English game (last year) and patience to maintain his first team spot in spite of some inconsistency. Both are admirable from management in a "results now" sort of environment. We should be applauding management's patience, instead of getting on Yun's back.

I thought that the knock he took at the Leicester game was significant. It takes a lot to make a player like Yun go off so I was really surprised to see him back next game. Given he lost almost a quarter of the season after a knock on loan at Doncaster he probably needs some time to recover. I wonder if the lack of full back options persuaded Bagpus to play him even though he was carrying an injury?

Good job we have some good youngsters available to us to replace our full back absentees. Oh sorry, forgot some fool sold them off or loaned them all out.

Grrrrrr!

Yun got injured just before we scored our goal, when he tried to put in a cross and Sessègnon had his foot up, so Yun's foot (or ankle) hit Sessègnon's foot. Yun went off the pitch and sat down and should have got treatment there and then (the ref chose to ignore him and do nothing, which was typical of his performance). In the meantime the corner came in, and we got the penalty. Yun was still hobbling while the other players were celebrating the penalty. About five minutes later he just sat down on the pitch and then had to go off. God knows why Yun didn't get any treatment when the injury occurred.

Again I didn't think he was that bad yesterday, ok he's not hitting the heights of his first few games for us this season but those were of such high quality it was unlikely he was going to maintain that. We do tend to look for problems with players, he's not brilliant but he's good enough for us meaning he'll have good and bad games and we should just stick with him. For all this talk about his form going I don't think he's cost us any games or made any obvious clangers

Yun has almost definitely been carrying an injury since he went off a few weeks back, which explains it for me. He knew immediately yesterday he'd have to go off after a contact injury - that says almost for sure it's an existing problem that he's probably playing through to help the team.

Still, some will just say he was awful and not bother looking at the whys, Dave!

Bare bones.

Sorry, injury can't be the reason why his man marking has been so lax consistently. He needs some advice from a defensive coach in regard to this and get in some turning exercises otherwise he's going to get mullered by some very nippy and adept wide men further up the food chain.Plenty of time to learn.

agree it's not the only reason, but as you say, he's still young and will learn - look at Clint.
But he's definitely been soldiering on for the past few games IMO.

You can't mark tightly if you have to cover 2 people and no one is taking the other / going with the runner - Suffering with having the ever lazy Fer in front of him and been carrying an injury for a while too

Ha ha - probably, although that was hardly a whine, more of a joke you miserly meanie.
Tell you what though - have a look back and see how many we conceded off corners and set pieces last season, will you? (something that we haven't done much better at this season). Then get back to me with another one of your smartass comments.
