windows 10 on 22:59 - Jul 31 with 2748 views | BucksRanger | I installed Windows 10 on my PC and my touchpad stopped working. Figured I'd just roll back and reinstall Windows 8.1 and all would be well again. Oh no! I still don't have a working touchpad.
windows 10 on 23:08 - Jul 31 with 2722 views | rsonist | Yeah unfortunately several drivers - Bluetooth especially - didn't work for me after the update and the fixes were obscure. Always going to be the case with so many hardware variables but to their credit I was very impressed at how quick and seamless it was to switch back to Win7 though. No problems afterwards. Seemed to me that there were no particular gains in performance and the advertised improvements were either irrelevant or cosmetic. Will still try to take advantage of the free upgrade again towards the end of the year when the dust has settled and maybe an SP1 equivalent was been released. [Post edited 31 Jul 2015 23:13]

windows 10 on 02:26 - Aug 1 with 2537 views | isawqpratwcity | I've got Windows 8 and I hate it. Loads of icons from touch screen phones that sprawl off the screen and are crap on non touch screen pc, featuring heaps of attention deficit 'popular' stuff that I wouldn't click in a fit, and not a decent organised menu in sight. I WANT SOMETHING NOT WRITTEN FOR A 15 YEAR OLD! I heard about W10 and am looking forward to up-grading, but maybe I'll wait for a few fixes first.

windows 10 on 06:17 - Aug 1 with 2483 views | BerkoRanger | I was going to go for the update but changed my mind last minute and am now sticking with Windows 7 which I really enjoy and can understand how to use (most of the time!) | | | | Login to get fewer ads

windows 10 on 11:37 - Aug 1 with 2201 views | Metallica_Hoop | I paid £50 extra for Win7. I'm very happy. I told a girl I know to pay extra and get 7, she's happy. I don't know anyone with win 8/8.1 that is happy and 10 has Cortana apparently... Have that on my winphone...oh dear.

windows 10 on 11:41 - Aug 1 with 2192 views | SydneyRs | Much prefer windows 7 which I have on my home and work PCs. Home laptop has windows 8 and I always skip past the main menu into the regular style desktop page.
windows 10 on 11:50 - Aug 1 with 2173 views | rsonist | Were it not for my driver issues I'd have been happy enough to keep Win10 - it's more or less designed to correct the mess of Win8 by making it more like 7 again, and from the day I used it I think they succeeded. I didn't once find anything I needed to relearn, if anything I was sort of disappointed how similar it all was in the end.
windows 10 on 15:33 - Aug 1 with 2005 views | TheBlob | Don't suppose there's a 100% way of getting back to Windows 7 from 8 is there?

Yeah, last computer I bought, I had to pay extra to have 7 instead of 8. Feeling somewhat apprehensive about the free upgrade to 10. Wish they would bring back an updated version of XP. Luckily most the stuff I do is "in the cloud", so very few pc based progs that might be affected by a change to the OS.

I would stroll into my local chemist on a busy afternoon, loudly ask the hot young brunette behind the counter for some extra small condoms, and then shove a giant pineapple up my arse (leaves first), rather than give any money to Apple and their ludicrously overpriced gizmos.

Of course that is in the mind of your wee crApple world. Reality bites and then you feel it: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/computers/apple_store.html Ubuntu laptop with an SSD and you will never need another laptop or desktop for 6-7 years. I am typing this on a Lenovo x201 with a SSD inside and Ubuntu installed. Bought it in 2009, still going strong. You can get them on Ebay for £200. SSD you can get them new for £40, install is unscrew and slot in. Ubuntu installs off USB stick and costs nothing. If you need a great screen get the docking unit which is £10 off ebay and reuse your existing monitors (yes you can go dual screen with the docking unit). All for £250. What so special about Ubuntu? Nothing, it just works.
