Jeremy Corbyn 20:16 - Aug 1 with 7058 viewsDorse

The media is frotting themselves into a priapismic frenzy over Jeremy Corbyn's leadership bid, as though it was the equivalent of someone being eaten by a shark, whilst being struck by lightning (twice) with a winning lottery ticket in his pocket.

It seems to me that, compared to the others, people actually know what he stands for! Why vote for Lego-haired windsock, Andy Burnham or Yvette 'Don't call me Mrs Balls' Cooper or the strangely attractive, mumsy personality vacuum Liz Kendall when no-one has the faintest idea what they believe in? People will vote for Cornyn based on his policies - the others just want victory at any cost.

I don't have a stake in this either way but I believe the the opposition should represent a genuine ideological difference to the government.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

Don't get me wrong, Labour is not my cup of tea, but I like the idea of a good parliamentary ruck before any voting.

Most parties have long since stopped representing the ordinary voter. The whole system needs a rethink.

No idea why I started this thread. Must be the drink.

I doubt i'll vote Labour but as Dorse said thankfully he has set out his ideology for everyone to support/find fault.
It may be surprising how many will vote for a anti austerity anti Trident ticket, the SNP have been on a roll using just that. Of course large areas of England are not going to vote for a proper left Labour party but large parts of the North, London and Wales are possibly waiting for this?

And a socialist who declares war on Iraq, changes religion because his missus with a post box mouth says he should, owns five houses, represents Despotic regimes in any country with a name ending in "...inestan", who is a peace envoy for the Middle East and the channel tunnel, says he is a Magpie supporter because he thinks it is a charity in Islington, and is basically a complete useless shit.

i'm not sure any of the candidates could be worse than Harriet Harman

i think Corbyns views are far more similar to my own than whoever the next identikit Labour leader will be but it doesn't matter. He won't win and if he does win he won't win the election. We are fully set for Osbourne 2020 and it will be the f*cking death knell of any real desire I have of living in this country

Howard was elected unopposed leader of the Tories.
All the Tory MP's got together and sorted it out beforehand so, there was only one candidate because they thought they could not trust the Tory membership rank and file. He did just as bad as IDS as we know.

So, next time they had an open contest, the main players threw their backing behind the heavy weights and instead the outsider Cameron won. Voted in by the younger Toriers. Sound familiar?

If Corbyn is such a wrong-un how come on 9/10 of pundit chat shows the panel has full representation for all candidates except Corbyn and they spend the whole show stating "how he cannot win the leadership" and then changing it to "he cannot win an election", to now the recent tactic of "he will tear the party apart". Meanwhile the Unions who have no power in this election are backing him and clearly the simple membership are. How is the right going to claim he is a Union man, when the membership voted him in?

I don't not care if he cannot win an election. Because what is the point of winning if all that you end up with is the same old Tories. Here is the proof that New Labour == Same Old Tories https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Labour
Blue Labour is what they call themselves!!! You can also see Ed Miliband is listed as member. So, he was not too left, in fact he was too right-wing. The SNP took the gift and no they did not win on nationalism, as that they lost that referendum despite a poor campaign by the Union. If Corbyn wins the SNP will have a problem as there are quite a few hidden Scottish Tories in there as well. He will expose them to take Scotland back and that is where Labour seats will come from.

Corbyn is not Foot, Corbyn is for sure not Kinnock as Kinnock is a New Labour type as well. No Corbyn is his own man as has been seen by his voting record. I think after the Tories have cut the country into the bone and discontent is rife (which usually happens in an economic recovery actually) then they should be more worried about their candidate as being unelectable, Osboure. Or shall I use George’s real name: Gideon.

Or maybe they will choose Boris in the hope they can win London. With what the Tories have to offer at the next election we can see why the right-wing press are after a "anyone but Corbyn" result. Which of course the public can see, the more he is hated the more people want to vote for him.

Agree with most of that LF.
I've never voted Labour as Liberals have been good for Orkney (and me personally as constituency MPs) but give me a proper politician anyday and then we can decide upon facts not the way the wind is blowing. I would vote for someone if i didnt like some of what they said as long as i can believe they have conviction in eveything they say.

Labour won't get back the Scottish vote. The Scottish are allowed to be nationalistic and they will vote for their own. The Scottish will get another referendum and they will gain independence. The working class in particular in the North will continue to deflect to UKIP. When the working class think Labour they now think mass immigration which always affects the working class.

The Scots already voted to stay and if Corbyn wins he will expose the Tories in the SNP (every Private Eye publication exposes one of these Tory SNP MP's, go down the library read and see). Then they will lose seats to Labour. Once that happens the 2nd referendum is dead, as they are seen to have reached their max potential. Like the SDP the end will be long and lingering, but it will happen for them.

After the EU referendum YES result, UKIP will disband. There maybe a few nut jobs who want to continue, but without the money from big business (which will disappear once they lose) they are done. Then watch the Tories get even more arrogant.

The working classes do not like immigration as it affects their jobs with imports of low cost workforce. So, it is not about immigration, it is about jobs and how much you get paid for a job. As the Tories are on a 'burn the house down' self pleasuring cut cut cut crusade, that fear will drive them to Labour as the jobs dry up and their rights in the workplace are thrown away.

And also there is the Gideon factor. Most people dislike the lizard man now, imagine his image in 5 years time of massive cuts.

The stuff Harman was coming out with about the radical left (all 12 of us) infiltrating the Labour party was like something from the McCarthy era Red Scare. I can picture her grilling new members:

i like the cut of jeremys progressive , polytechnic beardy jib,

he doesnt use the words 'swarm' or 'Jungle ' in mixed company or on the bbc to enrage anrew grahame dixon culture show viewers, and even got diggsy derek hatton to put down his money clip and stop flogging million pound holiday homes to rich english clients in cyprus to rejoin the labour party. unfortunately i think the labour party will put down the poppers just in the nick of time before they blow their union wad all over Trumpton Corbyn like john holmes in 'babyface'.

and he reminds me of martin clunes iconic portrayal of' MR chips', which is nice.

there'll get in Andy Burnham , as for all their equality mantras, they wont give the gig to a woman.

plus andys really good at tackling the thorny issues of the uk losing £250-£750 million pounds a day in a country twixt spain and portugal by complaining to the bbc about the word 'swarm', possibly due to his mascara supply stacking up on the m20.

The Scots have a Scottish Party now they don't need Labour who have to balance their loyalty between the Scottish and everyone else. They will have another referendum. In relation to the English working class it is about immigration. Labour brought in mass immigration which causes wage compression, lack of housing, a huge strain on education, infrastructure, NHS, an emergence of parallel societies, and the complete change in once working class areas into something they can't identify with. Their culture and heritage is being eroded.

You need to wake up, The Labour Party have an uncertain future whist the Conservative party remain strong.
