Sidestepper - 'Supernatural Love' - South American/Carribean riot of a thing
Gogo Penguin - 'Man Made Object' - more jazz/beats from a great band

Any recommendations, people?

"Key Markets" by Sleaford Mods has caught my attention; if only for the joyous levels of OUTRAGE within. The most refreshingly 'punk' music I've heard in years. 'Face to Faces' and 'Rupert Trousers' stand out, along with 'Tarantula Deadly Cargo'.
And all with the broadest, most unashamed East Midlands accents going...

"b'lieve i'm goin down" by Kurt Vile is very DECENT.

And Shearwater's new album "Jet Plane and Oxbow" has grown on me.

I still prefer their earlier stuff - Rook, Winged Life, Palo Santo, Golden Archipelago - in that order probably.

I'm a huge Okkervil River fan, but they've not been the same since Meiburg left, so I love Shearwater giving me a view of what might have been

Last year, but new for me:

Marcus Miller - Free

Songhoy Blues - Music In Exile

Check out the title track on Marcus Miller album - now that is a bass groove.

I have also been utterly caught up in
"Love" by Amen Dunes.
It has a delicious narcotic quality to it, right down to the singer almost shivering / gurning at times.
Repeated listens uncover a superb album.

I've enjoyed listening to The Wave Pictures stuff over the last 4 or so years. I've only heard snippets of their new album, A Season in Hull on Radio 6. Pretty good, but I need to hear it all. Their last album, Great Big Flamingo Burning Moon was by far their best so far. Some great songs aided by Billy Childish.

There aint half been some clever bastards.

I was pleasantly surprised ny the new New Order album.
I have a mate who used to go with me to see them in the early 80s and he thinks it was a bit commercialised but that never stopped Technique from being brilliant.

going to see Wave Pictures in Chester on Saturday night.
they're pretty much the best live band in UK right now.
All the band are amazing players but David Tattersall (guitarist) is amazing.

They're playing The Lexington is Islington soon, go and see em.

Daughter- Not To Disappear.

Laid back, a little bit folky. Reminds me of Beach House's excellent Bloom.

Ade - assuming you are in UK but do look out for them when next touring - just seen them outdoors at winery here in Auckland and they are brilliant live act.
Star of show is trombone player with less than rock star build who gives it what for!
Really good summer vibe.

No Kiwi - Adelaide South Australia. Unfortunately they were in town last week and I missed out. Will be looking for them in the future. Some good stuff on u tube and listening to the Roundhouse in the London live album, all good value.

Not so new - but new to me - I saw Here We Go Magic at Xoyo on Monday night. They were great - even if I wasn't sporting a hipster beard and side parting !

Been listening to the two Ultimate Painting lp's a lot recently.
Petal, Charlie Hilton, Sunflower Bean and Hinds have all released fantastic debut albums this year, while Wild Nothing and DIIV's new lp's are well worth a listen
Hooton Tennis Club, Twerps and Christopher Owens all released great really underrated albums last year

Not an album but this first single by Whitney is absolutely gorgeous:

I like that Whitney one, Kernow. I still can't get past his voice but the groove, guitar and brass make for a great track.
