I thought it was pretty entertaining but not a patch on Tinker Tailor.
Couldn't work out the fuss about Tom Huddlestone at all, and I thought the character as written behave implausibly, especially having an affair with he girlfriend of a bloke who'd have you killed as soon as look at you, under the nose of said bloke, thus jeopardising the whole point of the operation you're engaged on. I mean, just out the bloke in jail and then ask her out, surely?
But I thought Hugh Laurie was ace and owned the thing in every scene that he appeared in. And Olivia Coleman was pretty good too. The finale was satisfying too, if not entirely credible. |  | | |

How dare a character behave implausibly in, er... fiction.
Next you'll be telling us no one can fly faster than a speeding bullet.
Without the implausible coincidences in Dickens nothing would get anywhere.

FWIW I quite liked the series, but it wasn't close to being as good as the book.
I thought it suffered from the needless transfer of locations & this robbed the story of some plausability.
However, that is like comparing the Tinker, Tailor television series with the film. As usual, what you see or read first is best! | | | |

Just finished this. Thought it was done well. Not as good as Tinker Tailor maybe, true, but still well directed and well acted. Laurie and Coleman excellent. |  |

Overall I found it watchable but not great, some parts didn't make a great deal of sense to me but maybe I missed bits but when making a cup of tea... |  |

I though Hugh played the role of posh baddie quite well and the series was ok, each to their own.
