Reports that he is about to leave Liverpool for Manchester United, is it me or is he the most over rated player out there, only went to the scousers because he was one of brendans favourites, still have memories of Adel nutmegging him and his shoulders dropping in resignation, bang average imho, the worlds gone mad. I never got him either.
I remember a few early games for Liverpool all he would do is get the ball and pass it a few yards to soemeone close to him like Gerrard. After doing this umpteen times you could see Gerrard gesturing to him "get it up there". Wouldn't/couldn't make an incisive forward pass if his life depended on it. Same as he did at Swansea in their wonderful (sic) team that bored many to death yet got a massive transfer (£16m?) to Liverpool.
Maybe he has improved but never understood the hullabaloo at the time. [Post edited 24 Jul 2016 12:15]

I think he is a very under rated playmaker. Shone at Swansea where he was played in the Faurlin position. If Ale had remained fit he would have been another level above Allen but IU like him as a player. He links play well. Not quite sure why Klopp wants to move him on? He maybe feels he is a bit light weight. |  |

Joe pass back Allen it's the only ball he plays a simple pass back to back four almost every single time I watch him. I don't rate him watched him for team gb in the 2012 Olympics

I thought he looked quite good in the Euros, having previously wondered why he got to first choice status at Liverpool. One of those players who makes the team tick without ever seeming like he does anything.
