Gunnersbury Avenue Speed Camera 20:52 - Jul 25 with 7347 viewsMrSheen

I've just opened letters informing us of two speeding offences in a week on the same camera - outside the International School in Gunnersbury Avenue, driving up from Chiswick roundabout. They were for driving at 36mph and 39mph, in an area that was a 40mph zone for decades until the beginning of this year. The 40mph zone begins within a couple of steps from the last speed mark. You have been warned.

May be worth appealing on that basis Mr Sheen, that its been a 40 zone for years and you were within that. They may waive one or both. Worth a punt I'd say. Two fines in several days and two sets of points would be a bit excessive.

Just got a ticket on Saturday for exactly the same camera. Been driving that route every day for more years than i care to mention. It is fckng outrageous that they don't put up a sign (eg. New Speed Limit) for a couple of months, highlighting the change of speed.

If anyone knows if i have any grounds to appeal, i'd be very interested in progressing.

Poll: Kitchen threads or polls?

Used to do that route everyday. I'd appeal on that exact basis Black Crowe pointing out they haven't even signed it, copy in your local MP, might make a difference, got to be worth a punt.

I've stupidly already sent the completed ticket back but i'll have a go. Anyone know which council that stretch belongs too - H&F, Richmond or Ealing?

Bllcks, went up there yesterday over 30 for certain. Where are the fckin signs?

Does that come under Ealing Borough remit, they are the biggest bunch of thieving cnts of all the Boroughs.

So the only major signage is if you come from the Chiswick Roundabout. I entered from the slip road off the Great West Road, so you don't actually see those signs. Bearing in mind anyone coming off GWR / M4 would have being doing 40 plus for a considerable time you'd think the cnts should at least put up a big sign as you approach the speed cameras.

God, I fckin hate authority.

Enfield are just as bad knuts.

How can that road(when its not stationary traffic) be 30 mph.

Narrower just as busy stretches of road in the area are 40 even 50mph

Thanks for the warning, I drive up there all the time. Points and a fine for 36 in a 30 zone is insane, but then as we all know this is the only chance skint councils have left to make money and they're milking it for all its worth.

In the late 90s I managed to pick up three separate three point offences on a single drive to the Essex countryside to see some mates - the first speed cameras had just come in and I didn't even know they existed! Took ages to get rid of them (I was driving perfectly normally) but haven't had any since, which is a minor miracle.

I think it should be contested. Just to change the signs is not enough, it should have been advertised prior.

The A316 recently became an Average Speed Zone and they had signs to this effect for a good month or two before it became in action.

TfL obviously don't want to invest in too many signs, this is a nice money maker for them.

Think that will come under Hounslow council as they take Chiswick roundabout up to popes lane. You will hopefully get a speed awareness day instead of fine and points.

Dual carriageway at 30mph 🙄

Were the tickets around school time if that's what the camera is put up for?

5.04 on a Sunday morning. Great start to the holiday. First offence in 34 years of driving for me. Mrs Sheen is an habitual criminal.

Although it is within the administrative boundary of LB Ealing, Gunnersbury Avenue is part of the North Circular and thus part of the Transport for London Route Network (TLRN). Therefore, it is not LB Ealing - it is TfL who own/manage this road and are responsible for both the speed change and the enforcement of it.

Why stop now, just when I'm hating it

Sadiq knting Khan then.

I've noticed the traffic lights have got a whole lot redder since his coronation. Sat in Hounslow for nigh on 3 minutes yesterday waiting for one to change.

If you had bothered to look at the link posted above you would have seen that the consultation for the proposed changes ended in March, two months before Khan became Mayor.

Speaking very quietly .....a QPR supporting mate works for TFL and the average speed cameras are coming to most dual carriageways in ALL London boroughs. I have noticed round Twickenham/Richmond that the traffic lights have changed in recent weeks creating more queues. I will ask him if there is new directive from Brother Khan!

Then we must suppose she accepts fines as an occupational hazard, and presumably accepts points in the same casual manner...

another dirty one that they have introduced is on the A4 as you leave London, crossroads at North End Road/Cromwell Road

3 carriages and it looks lke a red light camera; went across the lights and they were just changing to amber so accelerated slightly to get through, saw the flash and couldn't understand why. Then get the notification that it's now a 30 zone and it accelerating to not do an amber/red i've been nicked for speeding.

twunts of the highest order.

There are a few combined traffic light/speed cameras dotted around and yes, that's one of them. Looks like a red light camera but if you see the white dotted lines in the road then that's how you know it's a speed camera too.

I use the A316 every day and have noticed bigger queues (I'm on a motorbike so just filter through) around Richmond/Twickenham and cannot understand why? To force people off the road and onto the oh so wonderful public transport system?

There's another one of those red light/speed cameras on the A40 heading into London at the pedestrian crossing just before you get to the elevated section/ turn off for White City.

Did exactly the same thing, accelerated slightly to go through an amber light at 2am with literally not a car or person in sight (f--k knows why it was going red), and got done for "speeding". Had to go on a course.
