JFH: 'he has worked incredibly hard...' Too hard?

Our pre-season injuries of Bidwell, Lynch etc. and the rhetoric from the club sound a little too much like what Raymond Verheijen talks about...

http://metro.co.uk/2016/07/18/dutch-coach-raymond-verheijen-criticises-jugen-klo

It's obvious this guy's just trying to get himself a job, and I don't really know whether he's credible, but I recognise his description in our injury list.

Poor guy. He must be going crazy. Been a miserable 12 months for him.

Bare bones.

Thought he'd had a few long term injuries prior to coming back to us. Wonder if his style of play has caught up with him.

He was only back in training a few days so doubt it is due to that

With the club on a brand new wage budget and money being tight makie is just going to be a passenger we just dont need. Great the first time around but he is finished as a championship player

Ohhhhhh bobby zamora

That's a shame for him.

Gotta feel for him, we need that kind of positive influence around the changing room. Hope it's not as long as 3 months.

Hope he has a speedy recovery!

Shame as he looked so good on his first game back last season too!

It looks increasingly like that to my completely untrained eye. He's been able to be a very effective player at this level largely because of his work rate. I wonder if he might be better off making a point of dropping the intensity a bit in order to prolong his career at a lower level? The obvious answer to that is probably no because it's not in him to do that.

Mackie on 18:04 - Jul 26 with 1825 viewsbosh67

I love his attitude and commitment but he looked a shadow of his previous self when he came back. I hope he can get back to fitness but it son't looking great and a shame because he is a shining example of what more players need to be about effort wise here.

Never knowingly right.

Heard from someone at the club, who would know these things, about 9 months ago that his legs are shot and he was a PR signing and little else. If anyone would be qualified to judge on his physical state, it would be me this chap. I think his body is just breaking down on him hear last few years. The guy in question said he'd be very surprised if we ever got any prolonge d game time out of him. Sad. But better accepted than unexpected.

What Dave Mc knows compared to what our team of professionals know. Just because he had them back earlier than usual, doesn't mean he's running them into the ground. It could just as easily be that he wanted a more gradual build up of fitness instead of 4 weeks of really intense stuff. We don't know - neither does Dave.

Bare bones.

Dave Mc in passive aggressive dig at QPR shocker. Is he trying to say that JFH has installed a specialist medical team of his own choosing just so he could ignore their expert advice and ‘over-train’ the players?

Does he know that?

Of course he doesn't, but I think you've also watched enough football - or lived a long enough life - not to assume a team of professionals are infallible. I'm not looking to defend the cossetted petals of modern football any more than I have to but it does seem an unfortunate (and deeply unhelpful) coincidence that every one of our new signings as well as those coming back from injury have broken down so far.

Klopp's Dortmund - another fanatical pressing side -were widely perceived to be completely knackered and ruined by injuries during his disastrous last season there. He's hired Bayern's conditioning coach for Liverpool this season.

Hmmm, passive aggressive or not, we did look absolutely knackered at Burton the other night. Doughty was down with a muscle injury after two minutes, Lynch got a muscle injury first half, Cousins has a muscle injury, Mackie has injured himself again. Borysiuk is injured...

It's not boding well is it..!? Got an awful feeling that we are a way off from being organised and ready... Happily/hopefully be proven wrong.. But we seem miles away from being ready.

Dave Mc is passive aggressive for sure but I must say I very much don't think of him as someone finding/inventing fault for the sake of it. Not like a good quarter of the old gits on this board at any rate...

If he's pessimistic it's maybe because he has a memory longer than that of a goldfish.

To be fair we don't actually need to be ready next week. It's a 46 game season.
Problem is at QPR if we don't start carving things up straight away with the massive resources available to us then people will l want the manager/dof/ceo or all three of them sacked by the middle of September.

I agree we looked knackered, but thats part of pre season isn't it...burning off all the summer BBQ's. I know its a bit different for the pro's but its all part of getting (back) in shape. I mentioned before that Polter looked a little sharper to my eyes - I've got a suspicion we're going to be pleasantly surprised by him this season. I know he only played half an hour but still.

Teething problems. Also Mackie was reguarly injured long before JFH rocked up.

It's no secret though and I said it a week or so back on another thread, the medical team have a huge job to do this season with the way we play. Leicester concentrated on cutting edge recovery and cryogenics to help do what they did last season, it wasn't a coincidence that they were so consistent and we have to try our best to replicate their success.

I'm not convinced the over-training theory is the case (as the poster upthread says we just can't know for sure) but for the record "teething problems" is blinder faith than a long list of injuries is blind negativity...

Mackie on 17:40 - Jul 29 with 1240 viewsdolcelatte

I've never understood how footballers manage to lose so much condition in what 6 weeks? Surely as "athletes" they should have a couple of week off then start straight away on conditioning. Cyclists use this approach with the goal of maintaining at least 90% of peak fitness all year round aiming to hit 100% at certain times of year for specific events. Football, for all its money, seems to be stuck in the 19th century in so many ways.

Poll: Are you sick of people asking if you are sick of polls?

Mackie needs to be completely discounted here. See my earlier post. He was shot when he arrived.
