Burton match Fred 19:15 - Jul 26 with 8801 viewsNorthernr

There's a left winger on the bench on trial from Barcelona via Stoke. A YouTube montage set to soothing music follows...

someone remind me why we got rid of faurlin

Because as much as we all adore him, his knees are held together with gaffer tape and after he injuries he had the pace and turning circle of a supertanker.

Hasselbaink wants us to press, Ale could barely break into a jog, let alone press.

We can press alright. Can't pass though. Barely strung two together tonight, Chery and Washington in particular absolutely starved of decent ball.

he can pass a ball to a team mate though, something none of our current midfielders seem capable of

Ah fcuk it then... I'll start now.

Chill out Winston... Ya no wanna go ta Europe?

All my sarcasm aside, it's pre-season and it's bleedin hot and humid.
I'm in no way looking at results but I'm looking at fitness and patterns and play (whilst not actually watching). As pointed out by someone else on another thread, we got ironed out by Charlton first game last season whilst looking somewhat bereft and clueless. I'd certainly not swap where we finished as to where Charlton did

All knickers in a straight line please chaps.

Onwards

Burton looked by far the better team, I thought. All part of a cunning plan to give nothing away about our true strengths before the season starts. Hopefully.

I think this is very true. Lull them all into a false sense of security.

Trouble is when will we change into the fast free flowing lean attacking machine?

I nodded off for our goal

Just an observation but I think Polter might have gained half a yard of pace.

Does he have a Russian fitness coach?!

Thing is he didn't miss many games due to injury last season , he never really had pace , and he is still way batter than most of our present midfield options this season , apart from that I totally agree with what you said

Well if we are to take a positive from last night, it's that JFH thought we were crap as well. So at least it's not the plan to play like that!

We've never had such a vocal coach on the touch line, he's barking out orders all the time.

Sadly most of our players don't appear to know what's going on. The passing is abysmal and sadly the only player who seems to be our most consistent passed is Karl Henry, albeit sidewayin

the 3 games I've watched I would be surprised if we have 15 minutes of passing football put together.

I wonder if playing at home will make any difference

Don't know, he did look a bit quicker to me though. Washington looked a bit away from match fitness to me, as did Luongo - although he barely touches the ball.

To be fair, he's done what a lot of this board wanted, got rid of Phillips and Hoilett.

And of course in the real world a 1-1 draw away at Burton will be perfectly acceptable as well!
