"18Stone,I went to the Chelsea v Bristol Rovers game last night with my sister and thought I should send you a report. We were in the stand by the Shed half away end amongst the John Terry worshippers, with Terry larging it, warming up in front of us - which I think would be your idea of hell. But you would have enjoyed the Bristol lot outsinging Chelsea with 'Goodnight Irene' and celebrating when Rovers scored like they'd won the cup. It looked like Chelsea would win comfortably but there wasn't much in it in the end and Rovers supporters took over Fulham Road afterwards. I returned on the overground line to the Bush and walked home through the Dale, more or less unscathed by the Chelsea experience. Go on the Gas!"

Was a great performance from them. Considering legends such as Gerry Francis and Ian Holloway had their Bristol Rovers connections I am sure that club is held in high esteem by most r's fans.

They were always Queen's Park Rovers to me in my 4 years in Bristol 'cos of all those connections in the 90. Much the better Bristol team irrespective of current league positions...

Late 50's early 60's lefty/socialist folk revival..the fabled music tramp Woody Guthrie who traversed America during the Depression on the rails was Bob Dylan's inspiration and mentor. Recommend the Coen Bros affectionate tribute to the Greenwich Village scene "I am Llewyn Davis"
Sweet, unaggressive and unique as an anthem for a footie club.

Local team while I was at university there, great little club - Bristol is far from a footballing city in many respects so supporting the city's second team is a real labour of love. Very pleased to see them doing so well with two promotions in a row and giving a good account of themselves at Chelsea. Proper fans.
Don't mind Rovers at all , BTW does anyone else think they also used to have an Influence kit back in the day ?
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles
