Because he's not got many games I think we'll just have to trust JFH and Les to judge whether he'll make it or not. Even if he does have potential he won't realise it on our bench. Just hope that we get a sell on clause if he goes for good to cover him improving when given the opportunity. |  | | |

Be a shame to see a product of ours go elsewhere and do well when they could do well here...but if he isn't going to get a chance then don't stifle his career let him go. But then why play him at all if he has no future here? Just to stick him in the shop window? I think he looked handy enough when I've seen him play, a talent that needs honing but a talent none the less and one we've developed to boot.

We were linked with Mawson. Annoys me that a few of us on here were recommending him ages back when we could've had him for peanuts.... Likkle Bentford took the punt if I recall?

He has only turned 20 this summer is 6ft 3, has yet to fill out, and has played for England u20 four times.
So it looks like he has great potential, but maybe JFH doesn't rate him for the first team, at present, as he wasn't on the bench last Saturday or on Tuesday. He played for the u23s on Monday?
I would trust the club on this but if they do sell him a decent fee and a big sell on clause.

Barnsley must have a very good defensive scout and defensive coach given that they sold John Stones to Everton a couple of years back, then sold Mason Holgate to them also last summer at the age of 18, million who Martinez earmarked as thee perfect replacement for Stones who he thought would be leaving last summer. They only got Mawson from Brentford last summer when his contract was up and paid compensation to the Bees who obviously didn't fancy him and now they are in for Kpakawa which suggests to me that they see a lot more potential in the kid than Rangers do. No doubt in a year or two if they buy him he will be on his way to a top Prem team for a few million. Personally I would keep him and at his height I reckon he may be better in the middle of defence then on the left. | |
