Music isn't, but lyrics are.

Bob Dylan on 21:30 - Oct 13 with 1010 views | Monahoop | Arguably one of the best lyricists around and many would say, the best. Has written many great songs and poems. A long overdue award me thinks. Doesn't possess the greatest singing voice, but he still and always will steam roller over todays crop of mediocre, wet flannel, whanabe Dylans. Ed Sheeran in 40 years time anyone?? Jeez, I bloody well hope not!
| There aint half been some clever bastards. |

Bob Dylan on 21:59 - Oct 13 with 989 views | BrianMcCarthy | I agree that he's an unbelievably good lyricist but lyrics for music are just that - they're not literature. I don't begrudge him, though. He's a force of nature and a force for good.

Bob Dylan the poet? I guess your right. What's the difference between rapping and poetry? [Post edited 13 Oct 2016 22:45]

Bob Dylan on 01:33 - Oct 14 with 859 views | MoonshineSteve | Nope. With Brian on this. Love Dylan, seen him a couple of times, plenty of albums, book of his lyrics (which I think are superb). But it's a different discipline.

Thesre's a point. I thought some of Bowies lyrics were superb so I wonder will he be next. Who knows would the likes of Dizee Rascal come in for contention. In fact I would have thought that rap or grime in this case is nearer to poetry than folk music.

Dylan always said he was a poet. The lyrics to -- "Love Minus Zero - No Limit." - "Idiot Wind," - "Tangled Up In Blue," "It Ain't Me Babe," and "Visions Of Johanna" beats anything that Shakespeare knocked out.

Ron if I remember right is our resident expert on the man . Hoping you're well Ron!
