Why didn't we go in for him? We bought Smith but could have done with bringing in an inform striker too.

Lets ask Ian Holloway...

"There are a lot of players who step up a level and can score. But it's about the balance I need — the pace and power to move the ball from back to front sometimes if Idrissa Sylla's injured.

"Have I got anyone who can do that? I'm not so sure I have, and Matty Taylor isn't really that sort of player."

Good player, was talking about him on here in the summer. Excellent signing for them.

Maybe he didn't want to move away from Bristol.

Sign Taylor for the same amount you sell Freeman for.

If I was from the red side of Bristol I would be very happy!

Hopefully, we have got this right for the long term.

This is Bristol's version of the Sol Campbell transfer.

He's gonna get be getting a world of sh*t off the Gasheads over this one.

I actually think Holloway has set his stall out for a target man and Conor Washington combo to attack with. Perhaps he see's Smith as a better option for the role and that taking a another League 1 player as a goalscorer may be a bit of a risk.

Sort of player you'd think we'd snap up Clive?

I make you right, I think ghats exactly the thinking behind it.

I'm sure we made a lot more money for Washington and it looks line ghey are banking on getting him firing.

I can't believe they've only paid £300k for him, didn't Rovers turn down £1m+ from someone like Cardiff or Leeds during the summer???

For £300k we should've been in for him, Washington/Taylor playing off of Smith/Sylla would be good options.

where is the 300k fee coming from? I'd have thought it was a lot more than that

Me too. No way would they sell their leading scorer to their deadly rivals for that much even if his contract was running down (which is a possibility as he'll have been there three years in the summer).
