We've mentioned this as a possibility on here before, or at least wondered if it might be.
He's been scouting now for ten years so he's certainly got the CV for the gig. He featured in The Nowhere Men too, I think. Beyond that I don't know much about him, but then what do any of us know about any scouts, I suppose?

I remember Gary Penrice with the ball at his feet by the corner flag in front of the loft once beating two players then looking up for a pass whilst the other Rangers players were stood around in the penalty area scratching their bottoms and discussing Quantum theory and the theoretical basis of modern physics so he sort of shrugged his shoulders and smashed the ball into the back of the net from a ridiculous angle. I thought at the time nice goal Gary, why don't you do that more often you bloody West Country gibbon.
That's about it from me on the Gary Penrice front.
My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.
I remember this little bit of skill before scoring against Swindon and that fcking titcake Hoddle. This was back in the days when we used to sometimes win in the FA Cup 3rd Round.

Lovely post!
Always like Pen. Ollie describes him as his striker coach and credits him with turning around Furlong, helping to spot Ellington and to some extent Zamora, and also really helping Roberts' game and then doing the same at Plymouth for his strikers there I think. Wonder if Ollie will also get him in to have a bash with our current strikers too.
Bare bones.

Yes, Holloway mentioned Penrice helping Furlong in his QPR Podcast interview (helping Furlong by showing him that he could already hit the target - it was very zen and the art of striking).

This is an excellent appointment and not just because he is ex rangers so has the obvious affiliation that makes people that much better at their jobs. He's been doing brilliant work particularly at Everton who have consistently bought from lower and foreign leagues to unearth gems.
Good work.

I went back and re-read the relevant bits of The Nowhere Men last night. Extremely encouraging reading. Our scouting recently has been superb but this should make us better again.
Hope this happens now.

It's a positive step by the club. For example, both Manning and Shodipo have been brought in from Irish clubs and have made really good starts this season. Someone did a great scouting job there. It just shows the value of having someone with a nose for a prospect.

Just imagine if Hoos was exRangers! We'd be the richest club in the world (again).
