Liberal Democrats to make a comeback similar to when Clegg was leader. They'll be the swing factor and needed to form a government with Labour.

They'd need to bring back Clegg then - ain't gonna happen.

I think it will. This could go on a while... :)

Lib dems should win seats from labour, not sure whether they'll win enough from Tories though. I also think there is a larger chunk than normal of people who don't know who to vote for. Tories too right, labour too left, lib dems too quiet.....

Can see this happening, but not sure how significantly - I'll probably vote for them because I don't agree with Tories on Brexit, NHS etc and I can't bring myself to vote for Comrade Jeremy and that daft cow Abbott.

Never voted Tory in my life, and never will, but......

Smart move by her, she's got nothing to beat.
Then 5 years of her, plus a hard Brexit.

I think she's outflanked them all.
Still, on the bright side...........
It might make Labour realise, that in the future they need a leader that can not only fight an Election, but will actually stand a chance of winning one.

Meanwhile.......
Welcome to to Gig Economy, and the race to the bottom.

What's going on?

We should be told

Sort it out

The Lib Dems did well because of Clegg. The people who voted Clegg and then discarded him because of student loans or whatever it was that smudged their political mascara have got exactly what they didn't want - it's their 'fault' - they did it. nobody else. So now they're going back to the Liberals are they? There's something more important than student loans all of a sudden? My word.

I think the biggest factor is the jibes she has to suffer about her not being elected. No other reason for it, really.

...and possibly they think Labour have no great alternative to Corbyn and haven't sorted out their own membership issue so getting rid of Corbyn just allows a slightly more palatable lame duck opposition.

My word indeed. But No.

People didn't support the Lib Dems in previous election (not enough anyway) because a) they formed a government with the Tories and b) another lot didn't want Labour gettiing in.

People will vote for Lib Dems more (membership has doubled in recent months I believe) because people who are "middle of the road" in their political views don't know who to vote for. As has been said, comrade corbyn..no...... theresa with david davis and other right wing lot....no. Look what happened when Tories went to the right before under duncan-smith....got destroyed. We're not a right wing country, middle of the road voters win elections. Blair and Cameron realised this.

I'm no avid follower of Labour politics, but looking from the outside, Keir Starmer looks head and shoulders above any other possible leadership candidate. He looks capable of providing proper opposition but whether he's acceptable to the average Labourite is another matter. As I say, it'll be interesting to see what he does during the campaign, assuming that the election goes ahead. If he's put up front then he'll be one of the stars of the campaign.

Yes the LibDems formed a coalition government because that's what the country effectively elected at the time - a pretty tough time on our history although probably not so tough for the average LibDem voter. I thought that the coalition government was better than what this one has shown so far and in all probability it was better than the one that'll be elected in June. It was a half decent goverment thrown together in very dificult times. It wasn't about 'getting your way' it was about 'getting a difficult job done'. Not about self-indulgence, but that's exactly what many LibDem voters are all about - self-indulgence. So they'll indulge themselves over something massively important to them this time and hopefully that will be something that IS actually massively important on the scale of things, but if not then we'll get by somehow I'm sure.

I've voted Labour, Lib Dem, Green and Toy in my time sometimes to vote for the party, sometimes to protest about Labour. I've always lived in safe Labour seats so my vote is always wasted to an extent.

Irrespective of the polls, I guess there are many many safe Labour and Tory seats that will rarely change, so it will be interesting to see if that changes in this election.

I think the Lib Dems are still doomed, but many people don't want to vote for Tories or Labour, so will be interesting to see who they go for, or if they just stay at home.

I normally vote Tory and I thought that coalition one was the best of the 2 recent governments. Clegg could have formed a government with Gordon Brown but too right choice (in my view). Some Lib Dem supporters were obviously not that happy about it, not saying I agree with that view but the last election results show that.

I think the coalition with the Tories didn't help them, but I think the University fees is what really did them in, they were so forceful about it beforehand, it destroyed all trust in them for many. I think it was accepted compromises had to be made, but that was one area they needed to fight on against. A big tactical mistake. Ironically, they got more blame than the Tories for it they played it so badly.

I'm a floating voter, voting for whoever I believe who has the best policies and direction for the country.

As a lifelong Eurosceptic, I am supporting May because although I don't agree with Tory policy on education and am worried about the NHS, I believe that by far the most important issue at the moment is the future of the country outside of the EU. I have been thinking that we are in huge danger of messing this up as those who voted against throw every possible obstacle in the way which weakens our position as a country.

This election will I believe give her a stronger position in the negotiations with the EU, a better position with the other nations we wish to build relationships with and a more robust argument with any opposition within the UK. This I believe is necessary to get this huge decision and challenge for the future correct.

Yeah I thought that the sort of 'Tory Lite' coalition worked and was a credit to Cameron and Clegg. What would have happened had that status quo been maintained, who knows? I would assume that we'd still have had a referendum and Cameron and most of the coalition cabinet campaigned to remain anyway, so unless Clegg could have got more out of the EU than Cameron managed then we'd be pretty much where we are now anyway, and more than likely facing another election. And Clegg would presumably have got the blame for Brexit for agreeing to a referendum, but Clegg has gone and the Libs now have no chance of a coalition with the Tories under Farron, even if they held the balance of power. A Corbyn-Farron alliance is just not going to happen.

The only difference between us and the US, is whereas they had two poor choices for head honcho, we have three!

In many ways, this is both a blinding move, but yet a stupid one. Either way, it's a risky one. Hopefully the one positive that will come out of it, will be the end of UKIP.

As for the rest, well its likely to answer the Corbyn question one way or another. We don't need a hung parliament, that would be a disaster and yet an outright win for either the Tories or Labour, could spell an even bigger disaster for different reasons.

That upstart from the Lib Dems reminds me of that upstart from north of the border. Both chancers, both annoying and both imbued with a trait that even if everyone votes different to them, they are right and everyone else must be wrong. Deplorable traits in politicians I feel.

This all emanates from the 2010 election, which opened more scars than it did close them. Brown was a poor replacement for Blair and several years after Teflon left us, they still don't have a leader. The Lib Dems were made to look idiots when in coalition, backed down and didn't rein the Tories in. May is with out doubt, the best of an irredeemably hopeless mob on the opposite benches and frankly, I wouldn't trust her, them or any one whose place of work happens to be the Houses of Parliament.

It is a quite shambolic place politics finds itself in. Too many poor choices, too many choices with too many links to big business and out for themselves and out of touch with most people. You can apply this thinking to more countries than just the UK as well.

I fear, that we'll see a hung parliament. Then again, I am singularly unaware of any outcome that I could have just a teeny weeny bit of confidence in.

While as a rule I don't vote when I am not living in the UK, I actually think if I were there, I wouldn't voted because there is nothing worthy of me expending shoe leather for to go to the polling station. Poor, very poor and this election will not lance the boils. It will open at least two more because heads will roll come 9 June.

Still, might be worth voting Corbyn if for no other reason, the awkwardness that will flow when Trump visits.

If you want to know what a very left socialist vote will give you then look across the channel.
Most of the French in London do not want to go back.
Socialists will now the thrown out - probably will not get enough votes to contest the final two vote - and Le Pen is now a serious contender because of the failed socialist agenda.
I also remember to 70's when we had to be bailed out by the IMF.
I worked in the newspaper industry at the time - could not recruit until we got the unions permission - it was a closed shop so any good jobs went to friends first.
We had new technology sitting in boxes for two years - which could not be touched because of union concerns over health and safety.
We all want to give more money to the NHS and education etc but it has to be earned first.
North Staffordshire occurred under a Labour Government.
I know that there are many tax avoiders but do you think the socialists will come up with policies to catch them ?

Well the UKIP vote won't be going to the Liberals will it!

I agree that UKIP is shot. If Labour can put in a half decent campaign then they should be able to get some back - particularly on education and the NHS - I feel that May is looking weak on education in particular. But the bulk of the UKIP votes will go Tory as too many Labour voters just don't fancy Corbyn. He's not working class and he's not smart either - what's there for the old-school Labour voter who jumped ship?
