Oh that's really sad news.

He was the 'Voice of QPR' to many of us - the Voice of my youth.

He was the man for a crisis - whether trying to avoid Stan for money (!) or holding things together the night the floodlights failed...

RIP Ron Phillips and Best Wishes to his family.

I met him when I was a schoolboy and asked to visit the stadium and see the players once in my school holidays. He let me spend as long as I liked there.

The funniest thing was that when I went to meet him in his office he put a tape of the music that the team ran out to on match days at the time and he asked me 'What do you think of this ?'. I said 'It sounds a bit like quiz show music' and it seemed to be exactly the answer that he wanted to hear and consequently he seemed to take an instant liking to me.

Rest in peace Sir

Well, honestly, Nick, over the 23 years I worked at Rangers, our gates must have totalled trillions of spectators. You can scarcely expect me to remember you!

And yet I do. Many thanks for the photos you gave to the club. What on earth happened to The Nick Kidd Portfolio?

Just as well you didn't tell the Manager that story about Stan. There would have been consequences...

Yes, I still write plays - although lately I've been concentrating on screenplays. One film in post-production to date and another coming up..

I hope they have a minutes applause for him today.

A true gent with an amazing sense of humour and a quick mind.
However, as a languages graduate, I'm still not sure I've ever quite come to terms with his decision to drop the apostrophe from Queen's in our name!
One of those guys whose contribution to our club's history should be celebrated more widely and openly. I guess this is now the time and the place..
RIP Ron. Those who worked with you will undoubtedly have some great stories of their own to tell.

Ah man.

I loved what he did with our programme. Ron made it the best in the country and during our golden years he kept a wonderful record of that time.

Some of the things he wrote about in his ‘Bush Telegraph’ column were fairly idiosyncratic and he was definitely ‘old school’ in his outlook but that is not necessarily a criticism, it’s certainly a world away from todays media school led, anodyne gloop.

Thanks for the chequered cover, the little football men and the missing apostrophe ( duck!).

God bless yer Ron.

That's very sad. Gave the club a gravitas and a dignity with whatever he did.

I am genuinely really emotional on receiving this deeply sad news, Ron gave me an extraordinary opportunity to be club photographer when I was 17. I was allowed to serve my apprenticeship for many seasons with the club and I went on to have a wonderful career as a sports photographer. I have so many happy memories of Mr Phillips. He allowed me to play a very small part in the history of my beloved R's.

I loved RP. I remember as a 16 yr old in Manchester sending off for my 1st ST and asking if midweek games could be refunded because I couldn't get to them. 1. He agreed. 2. Sent me a bunch of photos of the 75/76 season which I still have and 3. I sat in the Directors Box as his guest for the opening match of the 76/77 season (0-4 v Everton) i was hooked for life

Wild horses couldn't drag me away...
