actually think him and field in central midfeld would work well , add tim in front of them and we shouldnt be overun in centre midfield that often , wont be pretty but will be effective |
Good points. We can't just have attack-minded players in the midfield, we also need ones who can mark, win the ball back and screen the defence effectively.
Last season showed that, try as he might, Field can't do that job on his own.
Scowen or someone similar would be a very useful asset. Fans rarely get excited about defensive midfielders but they play a vital, underrated role. [Post edited 23 Jun 2023 8:56]

I have no objections to getting Smyth back. Not sure why Orient could let him go. Otherwise Scowen doesn't really sound a reality given he's signed a new contract and left here feeling like the forgotten man, as did Smyth.
