Not thread-worthy really or worth reading unless you're similarly afflicted or can help.

For my sins I use Chrome via windows on a 2008 Packard Bell Easynote desk top.

Over the last few months when it comes across vids here or on YouTube now-and-again it seems to labour under some severe nervous strain and conk out refusing to play but putting up a yellow dialog box that infuriatingly says something like:

" A plug-in (Shockwave flash) isn't responding. "

This foo king confounding frustrating Farage-Terry b'staad of an unhelpful message gives you no clue as to what to foo king do about it! It's doing my melon in!

Now there are three thick black lines in the top right corner of a Chrome page and clicking on them and changing settings or eliminating other programmes that aren't allowing vids to play I know 100% is going to be the way to solve this. But when clearing out & elminating other plug-ins apart from the right one before I was not certain which to kill and which to keep.

Far more confounding than females - rely on and love them yet can only live with them with much stress and high blood pressure and you can't live without them!
Did you see Facebook went down for a couple of hours - tween 5 and 7am GMT - on the western seaboard t'other day and then globally..
OMG ensuing pathetic frazzled meltdown all round.

Will be made up if some LFW techy wizz has the patience to provide a step-by-step numbered simple-to-follow instructions how to correct this damn thing.

Could be that you have two plug-ins activated that conflict with each other?

Not a tech wiz but sure I used to have the same thing happen a few years back and by deactivating one it solved the problem.

That's right. Chrome has it's own flash type player and they clash with Adobe's Flash which most people have.

Type:
chrome://plugins/ in chrome address bar
You will see details on right hand side
Click (+)Button

There you will see (C:Users yourname appdata local google chrome application your chrome version pepper flashpepflashplayer.dll)
Click DISABLE

Restart your machine

Chrome has it's own version of Flash built in, and since Chrome auto-updates itself, any Flash updates will also be included.
But most PCs also have a separate Flash installation. If that version gets too old then it will cause a conflict as the browser becomes confused when 2 different release versions are running simultaneously.
So the first solution is to download the latest version of Flash for your PC http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/
Then restart the browser.

If that doesn't solve the problem then you need to disable one version.
This article has good instructions, but I advise you to disable the Windows version rather than the Chrome version.

OK I got to a list of plug ins - but there are 15 of the buggers there - most I'm sure are totally superfluous and I would love to delete - but which ones?
Will try and copy and paste the whole foo king lot so you can give further advice.

I have unenabled 2 adobe ones and restarted the 'puter..I will now investigate if this is making a change for the better.
