Phil Lynott & Stan Bowles 13:26 - Jan 5 with 2566 views

I was sad to realise that yesterday was the 30th anniversary of the death of Phil Lynott. He fronted one of my all-time favourite live bands, Thin Lizzy.

It was only many years later when I read Stan's autobiography that I found out that he and Phil were very good friends and there is even a photo of Stan in a Lizzy tee shirt together with Phil in a Rangers shirt in the book. I know Lynott was a Man Ure fan, but it was good to see him sporting the Hoops and to realise that two of my teenage heroes were great pals.

RIP Phil. Still sadly missed.

Scott Gorham was/is a good friend of Stan's. I found this out when Northolt was having a chat with him at High Voltage.

RIP Phil went looking for his grave once couldn't find it but this popped in my head so I knew i was close.

Didn't realise it was Pneumonia that did him in, in the end. Amazing talent and voice.
