Anyone see that documentary on BBC on Janis Joplin. I really knew little about her before, just assuming she was some lost junkie of the sixties. God that girl had soul.
I thought i'd watch the first 10 or 15 minutes and got completely sucked in. Quite simply one of the best biopics i've even seen, whether you like the music or not. Still on iplayer, if anyone wants to check it out.
Same here BC, not familiar with her music but the docu was excellent on her background and family too. Very sad way to go and way too soon. Shall 'hear' her music differently in the future.
Great Blues singer. That period right at the end of the 60's has not been bettered musically since IMHO - Joplin, Hendrix, Santana, Redding, Cocker, Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin.
Go to 'Categories' select 'Music' and scroll to Janis
Thanks mate. I got to watch the end of it just now. Such an amazing lady. Yet so very sad. It seems to be a recurring theme, with people in the spot light like this to feel so lonely.
She had a cracking voice but suffered from not having the right musicians backing her.She sacked the members of Big Brother and The Holding Company who were plainly insufficient.Shame she didn't get some really pukka session musicians behind her although Mike Bloomfield(and Electric Flag) weren't too shabby.
