I was in Col for the solar eclipse that hit the UK about 20 years ago... it was cloudy so was a huge disappointment. Fortunately I was staying at my parents house near Penzance rather than one of the thousands who shelled out for hotels/camp sites... or the festival companies that lost millions because they overcharged and no one came! |  |

Was only partially cloudy on the Lizard and we cycled down to Coverack on the day and it was spectacular. I went to the Lizard festival with a whole bunch of mates and it was fantastic because it was so empty. Wasn't due to overcharging though, it was all the scaremongering about huge traffic queues and the like. The irony was that we drove into Cornwall on an empty A30 - but on the other side of the road there was a 50 mile queue of people trying to leave!
Love Penzance by the way mate, am a regular visitor.
They should get a much better view in the States, plenty of cloudless skies on the 21st I would have thought. Great business for the end of days cults as well... |  |

Great in theory but they are advising people to pack supplies in their cars because they think there could be 10 hour traffic jams afterwards and we have to move towns. Doh. Don't even care about it that much! Estimated 1 million people in Portland to see it...and we are there by coincidence :) | | | |
