I loved this when I was a kid. They remade it a while back but it was too bland and cosy; the 70's versions was proper bleak.

"Boys From The Blackstuff" by Alan Bleasdale, excellently written and acted, humour tragedy the lot.

"Pennies From Heaven" by Dennis Potter, another brilliant script and outstanding acting, and a fantastic music score too.

Okay, low budget 70's camp outfits and wobbly sets aside, here was a Sci-fi series that really was in terms of story, streets ahead of it's time.

Avon, probably the best anti hero character ever invented.

You'd be hard pressed to beat Blakes 7 admittedly but another Sci-Fi, Dr Who hiding behind the sofa stylie type show this time from the early 80's was the fairly scary yet unfortunately short lived Day of the Triffids;

Yes Blakes Seven was brilliant. Rumours fly they are going to remake it but uncertain when.

Day of the triffids was based on the book by John Wyndham in 1951
Liked the 1981 6 part series over the 2009 2 part one but yet to see the 1962 movie.
