Typical modern day footballer. Told, treated like and paid like he'd already made it, when actually he'd shown a good deal of promise. Having been handed millions of quid, and asked to go to work four days a week for two hours at a time, he then went and behaved like he'd made it. Too fond of the night life.

He's a particular idiot because he is, or at least could be, quite decent.

In fairness, far greater men than him have been lost to the one armed bandits.

Cant get my head around whats happened with this guy. He had all the attributes youd want in a good centre back and stil his whole career ahead of him.
On paper it look like he should be at Real Madrid, On grass it looks like he should be at Slough.

Another to instantly become crap after pulling on the hooped shirt? Maybe thats it, maybe we ned to change our kit like Cardiff did :)

He had a big gambling problem at Spurs. Was sent to Wales to try and sort his life out, got back on track, then we brought him back to the bright lights of London where he appears to have gotten back to his old ways..

Typical qpr due diligence really.

In fairness, he's one of those players that once he leaves Rangers he's forgotten about.. (At least to me), he's not much cop, good riddance.... As the song says...'don't believe the hype.'.

Terrible letdown. I don't think I've ever seen a centre half as bad at jumping and, on the odd ocassion he won a header, such a pathetic header of a ball

You know you've got a problem when you're sent to Wales to sort your life out.

Do they not gamble in Wales then?

We've no doubt made some poor signings over the last few years, but what gets me is as often as not our very best ones (or so I thought) are usually the biggest disasters.

I just can't believe how little we got out of the likes of Caulker, Mutch, McCarthy.
Charlie aside, obviously Clint Hill and Grant Hall, have we managed to get the most out of any player we've signed in recent years?

People blame TF for everything, but how could anybody have known players of that ilk would have contributed so little, ney sweet fa to the cause?

Players should have a contract clause whereby if they don't start a minimum amount of matches in a season, they get a serious beating. Unless due to (genuine) injuries of course.

Surely Harry knew Caulkers baggage. You can blame Tony as he could have done his own research on players he was buying. This is why i have massive faith in Les as the players they have bought are either kids trying to prove a point or older players that have proven that point. It is trying to get that balance right.

Good post mate. Of course Redknapp knew about Caulkers baggage ( and Sandro's dodgy knees).. Money changed hands and all was good in the aforementioned households...£££££££......er, allegdllely .

Mutch has only played 7 games for Palace in almost a year - and no goals. I think that he was a bad buy and a good sell. McCarthy hasn't played since September. Unfortunately we couldn't unload Caulker other than on a loan, but I'd have been happy if all three had been sold.

I doubt Harry Redknapp, a man that jumps on dodgy gambling companies was that concerned with a player being a gambler. We already have some here at the club (Charlie is obviously a big horses man), but it would seem (only from what I've heard) that Caulker has a worse problem than most.

He's such a tool, he should be going to the Euros next year, instead he's pissing about, happy to take his considerable wage and be average at best. If even QPR don't want you - you're in trouble.

You can almost predict what is coming here. He will be sent back to us at the end of the season and we will sell Grant Hall for £5M! We should look to off-load Caulker at whatever cost and give Hall a longer contract with proper incentives with money from a Caulker transfer.

Presumably the hope was that the considerably less bright lights of Swansea would lead to him being happy with a night in with the girlfriend, rather than headed to the casino with his mates in London...
