Referee Bias
at 11:55 26 Dec 2014

Having just watched MOTD from last week & seeing Lee Mason's red card for Agbonlahor got me thinking about referees and their biases. Although I've never been a ref I presume most get into the game because they love it. With that logic I'm also making the assumption that as is the case with 99% of people who like football they also support a team.

With that in mind I was wondering do they have to tell the referees association where their loyalties lie or do they simply lie and say, "oh, I don't really follow anyone."

I remeber when Lee Mason (from Bolton, Greater Manchester) was the ref at Old Trafford for United Rangers and he managed to send off Derry and give away a pen at 0-0 when Ashley Young went flying from a brush of the mighty Derry hand. Now having spent plenty of time in Manchester (one of the pitfalls of working in TV/Film these days) I know that if you're from Bolton you either support Bolton or United, City is the team that's hated. Well, when I say I know I mean that's what I've gleamed from the fact that every store sells United shirts and absolutely no City ones. Anyway I digress a tad. Although I don't know Lee Mason personally I'd hazard a guess that either he's a big United fan, Ashley Young's protector or a horrendous ref. Either way I've concluded I never want to see him ref a QPR United game.

Merry Crimbo everyone

Bosh Times
at 12:12 19 Dec 2014

Mr Bosh, I think I asked this question a couple of years ago and as I'm senile I can't remember how you replied. The question being what has happened to the Bosh Times, they were the most informative and insightful features that ever appeared on this forum. Anyway, I have asked Santa to bring them back and as I've been a very good boy this year I expect him to deliver.

Thank you please!

When Adel goes to the Africa Cup of Nations....
at 14:40 18 Dec 2012

I was thinking our shape against Fulham was the most solid and compact we've looked for a while and we even managed to threaten on a decent basis.

Therefore my question is what do we do in Jan when Adel goes to conquer Africa. Although he's not as creative as Adel I think Hoillett could do a job in the hole, he's quick and two footed and that role doesn't require him to do too much defending either. If not him maybe Granero could be given the chance although I'd prefer to see Hoillett given a run of games to try and prove himself.

Also although I know he's a central midfielder by trade I wouldn't mind seeing Diakite in the right wing role currently taken up by Mackie. I'd move Mackie to the left and have Diakite on the right, he has a good engine and a decent cross (he set up Mack attack's goal against Villa). Think with M'bia and Faurlin manning the centre and Mackie and Diakite out wide we'd have some powerful and willing workers who can also create. What are your thoughts?

Nice insight from Mick Jones, particularly like what I'm hearing about Joey's influence on our little Moroccan magician.

Really believe that the Sky's the limit with these guys. All the way from Tony and Amit at the top down the players it's all looking rosy. I'm just glad those trips to Swindon are behind us, seem to remember us losing year after year at the County ground and it always pissed it down (nice Kebab shop near the ground was the only redeeming feature from those ghastly trips!)

Players getting time off
at 21:24 4 Sep 2011

Anyone know why some of our players seem to have been given a little holiday time. Bothroyd tweeted on the 31st August that he's in Barcelona and can't wait for this coming Monday when he returns to training. Do you think Neil gave some of the players that were suffering with the virus a little time off? Or maybe with so many new signings maybe he just wanted to give them a chance to settle in London, look for somewhere to stay etc?

You'd think players like Taarabt would've have needed as much training as possible due to the time they missed in pre-season. At least they're all back tomorrow and they'll have a good week to prepare for Newcastle and the rest of the season.
