Josh Parker has followed his Antigua and Barbuda team mate Mikele Leigertwood out of Loftus Road on loan today by joining Gary Waddock’s Wycombe.

Earlier this season Parker made three appearances in League Two for Northampton but asked to return to Loftus Road early when he lost his place in the team. He will now attempt to get more games under his belt with Wycombe, a club he played for as a junior and one where he is sure to find some familiar faces with former R’s favourites Gary Waddock and Gareth Ainsworth already in place as manager and captain. Wycombe moved to secure the player’s signature ahead of next week’s loan deadline with parker set to jet off on international duty as part of the Digicel Cup next week.

Parker told Wycombe’s online TV station: “It’s good to be back. It’s where I was when I was younger and it’s a bit weird being back around here because everything is still the same. I know some of the younger players from when I was here playing in the youth team. As soon as I came here I felt welcomed by all the players and the manager seemed keen to have me. Gareth looked after me at QPR because he was in charge for a bit and the reserve manager. I’m very excited about it, hopefully I can show people what I’m actually capable of on a regular basis. I think the league is underrated, everybody tries to play football, whenever I have seen teams play they do try and play football, it’s a good league to play in.”

Neil Warnock told the QPR official website: “Josh needs games - and the more the merrier at this stage of his career. I think he's got a great future, but he needs to gain experience and he'll get that at Wycombe."

Gary Waddock told Wycombe’s website: “With Josh going away on international duty and the loan window closing on Thursday, we knew we had to move quickly to bring him in. He's an exciting young talent who can play in a number of positions and I'm looking forward to working with him."

Parker made his debut for Wycombe tonight against Torquay, who included Joe Oastler among their line up, as a second half substitute but couldn’t prevent them from slipping to a 3-1 home defeat. He will stay with the Chairboys until February 26.

Meanwhile Mikele Leigertwood has been speaking for the first time since he swapped QPR for Reading on a two month loan deal on Monday. Leigertwood told Reading’s official website: “I've settled in really well. The manager, the players and the staff have all been really welcoming and I'm just looking forward to getting out there, getting my boots on and preparing for Saturday's game. I wanted to come to a club who were looking to push on, and I saw Reading as a perfect opportunity to do that. I've come here to play. I've come here as a midfielder but there's the option that I can play at the back too. Obviously I'd prefer to stay in one position, but if I'm needed to play anywhere else it's no problem. And I know there'll be competition for places - there always will be in a good squad like this. So I know I've got to perform.

"I like to get in the mix and get up and down. And I'll just try to offer a bit of experience as well. I've been in this league a little while now, so I know what it's all about. I just want to get in amongst it and ruffle a few feathers against the teams we play. We're not far off the play-offs so hopefully we can kick on and give it a real go."

Leigertwood will not be joining Parker on the plane back to the Caribbean this weekend as Antigua face Jamaica. Kaspars Gorkss has told the Fulham Chronicle that mixed experiences for his team mates on international duty has not put him off turning out for Latvia, although he doesn't intend to play on internationally forever and felt the trip to China last week for a 1-0 defeat was a little excessive. Adel Taarabt has withdrawn from Morocco action after he travelled across the world for a game in Tanzania only to be an unused substitute, heidar Helguson has been misisng for six matches since picking up a shoulder injury playing for Iceland while Neil Warnock was angry that Jamie Mackie was forced to play a full 90 minutes for Scotland against the Faroe Islands last week.

Gorkss said: "I have no intnetion of going on and on to set records or anything like that. If I cannot give 100 per cent for my country then it will be time to stop. I can't speak for Adel and the others, players see representing their countries in different ways - some aren't fussed. But playing international football prepares you to adapt to different styles. And even a change of scenary from the day to day routine of the training ground is a reward in itself."

Former R's

Martin Allen has been linked with the managerial position at Brentford. The Bees won 2-1 at Plymouth on Saturday and have recovered from a tough start to the season to climb into a midtable position but manager Andy Scott has come under pressure from a certain section of the Griffin Park faithful. Allen successfully managed the Bees between 2006 and 2008 but chief executive Andrew Mills told the Hounslow Chronicle that he has no intentions of replacing Scott. He said: "There's no plans nor have there been any discussions to make changes. It has been frustrating this season, but progress is being made. We're still in a constructive position, and not sitting somewhere where we need to make decisive decisions. We have the belief that we have one of the brightest young managers outside of the top flight, and I can't see anything other than an improvement since he took over. We have put together a group of players who collectively can match the ambitions of this football club."

Kevin Gallen scored the first goal of his loan spell with Barnet tonight, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Bee’s losing 2-1 at home to Gillingham. Barnet are second bottom of League Two but returned to form at the weekend with a 4-1 home win against Northampton. Gillingham won their first away game in 18 months at Oxford at the weekend and backed that up tonight after Gallen had given Barnet the lead in the first half.

Better news for Daniel Nardiello and Jimmy Smith who were both involved in big comebacks in League One. Nardiello got Exeter’s equaliser at Oldham having trailed 3-0, Smith scored for Orient as they snatched a late 2-2 draw from Peterborough.

Championship Shorts

- Middlesbrough are said to be lining up a January move for Swindon hot shot Charlie Austin. The former Poole Town frontman struck his 11th goal of the season against Rochdale at the weekend and was subject of a failed £600,000 offer from Millwall in the summer. Austin said: "Personally, the only interest I know of is Millwall from the summer but apart from that none at all. I’ve got good people around me and I keep my head down and talk a lot. I’m just working hard in training, going to games and being confident.”

- Leicester and Hull are stuck in a stalemate as they look to bolster their attacks. The Foxes are keen to sign Ishmael Miller from West Brom but the Baggies are keeping hold of him while he recovers from a thigh strain. Hull want to sign out of favour Matty Fryatt from the Walkers' Stadium but Leicester will only allow him to leave if another striker arrives. Both clubs are also monitoring West Brom's Roman Bednar.

- Pressure is mounting on Burnley boss Brian Laws with his side slipping to tenth and still without an away win after the 1-0 defeat at Coventry on Saturday. Fans have besieged local radio programmes with calls for Laws to go after he left out Ross Wallace and played what was perceived as being a negative formation. Laws said: “People say it's about formations - what a load of rubbish - we ran out of patience. We were as creative with the formation as the opposition - that tells us we were doing the right thing. The disappointment is we stopped doing that and whether or not we changed the formation, we still stopped doing it."

- Derby are hoping to extend the loan of striker Luke Moore until the end of December, but coach Johnny Metgod has played down the Rams’ promotion hopes despite them currently sitting fourth. He said: “It's very nice to see the way the side has grown, but we are not there yet by any means - don't even go there. You can talk to me again on 8 May and if we are still there in the top six then no problem. If everybody is fit and we can play everybody without suspension and we are on the run we are, sometimes you can get a little bit of the run of luck.”

- Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric says he is closing in on a takeover of Sheffield Wednesday.

Northernr added 00:15 - Nov 24 Good spot Bully, to be honest that line was a late add as I was just about to stick this online when they said Nardiello had scored on SSN so I missed Cureton. Shame neither could really do it for us!
