Man Utd v QPR Betting Preview

Three pundits, writing a mixture of before during and after today’s events, look for some money making schemes among the sporting weekend action.

Brian Power

Winners so far:

NAP - Norwich vs QPR - Both teams to score @ 4/6, 24/8/12

Nap – Tranmere to beat Colchester 21/10, 30/08/12

LONGSHOT Ian Poulter 8/1 top European points scorer at Ryder Cup, 29/09/12

LONGSHOT - Saints/Fulham 12/5 , Liverpool/Stoke 10/3 draw double 05/10/12

Previously advised:

Villa to win the League Cup Each Way 18/1

David Weir, Sports Personality of the Year, each way 40/1

Notebook – Owen Coyle new Scotland boss 10/1

This week’s column is in honour of Jose Bosingwa. I have sat in front of a PC for 70 odd minutes but haven't done anything of any use. The only difference is that I am delivering something at the end of that period. It may not be good but at least I will give it a try.

A quick look at our game on Saturday and unless we have had a complete attitude turnaround it is a walloping for us. I think we will score as United have a knack of going behind but Van Persie and his gang could have a field day against our defence and have been telling the United Fans in work all week that if they don’t score six they are useless. I am hoping for a moral victory.

The 11/10 at Ladbrokes on both teams to score is the NAP of the week. Elsewhere it may be worth looking at our old favourite of the draws on Sunday as the four Premier League games all look close and this is the one for the notebook.

The big horse race is the Betfred chase and Long Run is 6/4 favourite. At better odds I like Weird Al from Donald McCain.. Regular readers will know I like McCain’s horses and at 6/1 is worth a shot against Nicky Henderson’s favourite. My long shot is Holywell in the 2.30 at Haydock at 9/1. Jonjo O’Neill’s has yet to be out of the first 3 in his four runs and three of these were on soft ground and the other in heavy which ticks the boxes after the recent weather conditions.

NAP - Both teams to score Man Utd/QPR 11/10

Longshot - Holywell 9/1 2.30 Haydock

One for the Notebook

Inevitable Scorers: Suarez to score first vs Wigan (4/1), 16/11/12

NAP: Arsenal vs Spurs - both teams to score @ 4/7, 16/11/12

Short and sweet this week for me I’m afraid due to work, but another two winners last week has kept me ticking over nicely. This has of course now been hastily rewritten following today’s news...

NAP - Man Utd vs QPR - Man U to win & BTTS @ 7/4

I originally had us to win to nil. I now reckon we’ll at least score, but still lose. Small steps eh?

Other QPR Related Bet - Sunderland vs QPR - Draw @ 13/5

I marked this down as Hughes last game in charge. I now think it’ll be Harry’s first game in charge. Plucky draw, Harry to claim he’s ‘satisfied with the lads’

He’s Bound to score: Torres to score anytime vs Man City @ 9/4

Benitez has come in, Torres will score, and everyone will assume that under Benitez Torres will outscore Messi. He won’t, but he’ll score here.

Longshot: Sunday BBTS trebles and quad @ 7/2 & 6/1

Four games on Sunday makes perfect betting fodder. My Both Teams To Score trebles and quads have done me pretty well so far, so I’ll go for that again here.

The Pro

QPR travel to Old Trafford in the worst possible shape. On the back of a sound beating from a very average Southampton side, without their top goal scorer (for what it’s worth) and ready to face a team with a front pairing of Rooney and Van Persie. The players clearly aren't playing for the manager, the manager doesn't know why performances are so bad yet continues to play formations and line-ups that leave the Blue and White faithful bemused. With Southampton creating chances at will last week, I truly can’t see how this week will be any different to what we've seen previous and I think even the most optimistic fan would struggle to argue otherwise.

The worst part from a statistical point of view is that Man United lost to Norwich last week and Galatasary earlier this week. The last four times that United have lost a Premier League match, they have responded in the next league game by scoring three away at Newcastle, three at home to Fulham, two at home to Swansea, and four at home to Villa. So that's an average of 3.25 goals scored by United for the following match in response to a defeat. I cannot see anything different here. My bet of the weekend is Man United to score over 3.5 goals which is currently at 2/1 with Coral or Sportingbet.

Also, with the expected return of Mr Rooney, it enables Van Persie to move further forward again - something that is needed after Rooney's omission upset the balance against Norwich. Despite not scoring against Villa, anyone who watched the game will tell you Van Persie could have had a hatrick. He certainly is much more prolific playing alongside Rooney and I will also be having an interest on Van Persie to score a hat trick at 12/1 with Coral/BetVictor/Betfred.

Recommended Bets - Bet Of Weekend- Man Utd to Score over 3.5 Goals @ 21/10 (Coral and Sportingbet)

Other Bets - Van Persie to Score a Hatrick @ 12/1 ((Coral / Betfred or Betvictor)
