Arsenal's Matthew Connolly is the second new signing today, joining on a three and a half year contract after terminating his loan deal with our Championship rivals Colchester.

Connolly spent the first part of this season and impressed at Colchester United and is a product of the very successful Arsenal academy. The 20 year old defender has been captain of the Arsenal reserve side and has featured, like so many of the Arsenal youngsters, in the Carling Cup for the first team.

As mentioned, Matthew impressed during his loan spell at Layer Road, so much so that he received his first call up to Stuart Pearce's England under 21 squad in November.

The new R's defender told the Official QPR Website;

"It's very difficult to make the breakthrough at a Club like Arsenal, so when QPR made an offer I knew it was the right time to move on.

I know what the Championship is all about after my spell at Colchester United and I'm delighted to be part of what appears to be a very bright future at this Football Club."

Welcome to QPR, Matthew and Good Luck!!
