Second Spurr Bid Rejected
Second Spurr Bid Rejected
Sunday, 13th Jan 2008 16:40

Rangers have had a second offer for Sheff Wed full back Tommy Spurr turned down.

Before Christmas, Rangers made a joint bid for both Spurr and winger, Jermaine Johnson which was rejected. In the last few days, Rangers have gone back to the Owls with an improved offer to retain the services of the highly rated, 20 year old left back. The fee is believed to be around £700,000 but Wednesday are looking for another £1 million on top of that.

Spurr is a product of the Sheffield Wednesday youth team and initially came through the ranks as a centre half but has firmly established himself as a left back in the senior team.

Just how far Rangers are prepared to go to get their man remains to be seen, but the recent investment is bound to get people trying their luck such to speak. You only have to look at Tottenham's increased valuation of Wayne Routledge since QPR's reported interest.

Possibly going the other way, is Shabazz Baidoo who is believed to be attracting the interest of League Two new boys, Dagenham and Redbridge.  The out of favour R's striker has recently returned to Loftus Road following a loan spell at Gillingham.

Baidoo did not make a first team appearance for the Gills, but did feature in a few friendly matches.
