Tube closures and ticket details for QPR fans heading to West Ham on Sunday October 5.

Ground Name: Upton Park

Capacity: 35,333

Address: Green St, Upton Park, London, E13 9AZ

Main Telephone No: 020 8548 2748

Ticket Office: 0871 222 2700

By Car

As ever, pretty tricky to give directions for a London fixture as QPR fans will be coming from here there and everywhere. For the out of towners driving in it’s junction 27 of the M25, then the southbound M11. When it divides to join the A406 North Circular take the A406 South turning, not the one to the city. Get in the two outside lanes and head south past Redbridge and llford. Leave the A406 at the Barking junction, and at the bottom of the slip round turn right on the third roundabout exit onto the Barking Road towards East Ham. Follow that road past East Ham Town Hall to the ground. The Barking Road does tend to be a nightmare after noon on a matchday and the guide (linked below) offers a few alternatives to consider.

Map

Parking

Sodding nightmare. All the streets around the ground are residents only. Newham General Hospital has a pay and display car park -£2 for three hours, £4 for six — and that’s a 15 minute walk to the ground. If you are trying for street parking turn left off the Barking Road as you approach the ground.

Train

The following tube closures are in place on the Sunday of our game:
- No Overground service from Gospel Oak to Barking, or Richmond/Shepherd’s Bush to Camden Road. Replacement buses operate.
- Bakerloo Line, no service between Queen’s Park and Harrow and Wealdstone. No Overground between Queen’s Park and Wembley Central. Buses operate between Queen’s Park and Wembley.
- No Central Line north of Leytonstone to Epping or Hainault. Bus replacement service in operation.
- The District Line has no service south of Turnham Green to Richmond via Gunnersbury.
- DLR not operating between Bank/Tower Gateway and Poplar and West India Quay.
- Until 11.00 there will be no Jubilee Line between Finchley Road and Waterloo.
Upton Park — Hammersmith and City Line and District Line — is the closest station to the ground but can be an absolute nightmare before and after games. Beforehand, don’t be surprised if you’re sitting on a train that announces at short notice that it’s no longer stopping there because of a crowded platform and races straight through. Afterwards, walking one stop further up the line to East Ham may well be advisable. Further afield is Plaistow on the same line, or Forest Gate on the mainline into Liverpool Street. Otherwise expect long queues.

Coach

As ever for London fixtures, no coaches operated by either the club or the LSA for this one.

Pubs

QPR fans will no doubt drink far and wide and travel in later on. Liverpool Street is often popular for this fixture with Hammersmith and City Line and District Line trains from Liverpool Street or Aldgate to the ground. Pubs around the ground are generally for home fans only, the guide recommends the Millers Well Wetherspoons near East Ham Town Hall or the Duke of Edinburgh near Upton Park Tube.

Tickets

QPR have taken the lower allocation for this televised Sunday afternoon fixture — 1,805 lower tier tickets priced £43 adults, £25 for the over 65s and just £1 for under 16s.
The club has already sold out of its six allocated wheelchair spaces.
Tickets go on sale to supporters with 30 loyalty points or more from tomorrow with a general sale to follow if any remain.

A word of warning from last time for those going by tube: because of overcrowding at Upton Park we were kicked off at Plaistow, which is the stop before, and endured a congested and shuffling 30 minute walk down back roads and alleys to the ground. Try to get there in good time.
