QPR’s returning hero Jamie Mackie is the guest on the first podcast of the season, comparing the personalities of the past with the current squad and outlining where he fits in Chris Ramsey’s grand plan.

Mackie rejoined QPR from Nottingham Forest, via a loan spell at Reading, this summer and talks about his delight at being back and the reasons for optimism during pre-season. The interview has a hard cut off point, however, as Mrs Mackie insists Jamie be back on the sofa in time for the start of the Great British Bake Off.

Kevin Gallen is the studio guest, along with host Paul Finney and some gobby git from LoftforWords.

It was also interesting to hear his comments about the first pre-season with Warnock, which I thought was excellent as it demonstrated how together the team were then. This pre-season has been so poor I don't think we can read much into individual performances, like Poulter's as he must think he's joined a shambles and I hope organisation back at base has been better. Its really important this team get that togetherness that enabled the Warnock team to perform better than the sum of its parts. That may take a bit of time.
