Welcome to the return of the LFW's Monthly Awards for the player, match and goal of the month. There is plenty of choice, the early signs are good and hopefully, we will make it through the whole season this time...

Welcome to the return of the LFW’s Monthly Awards. With the various site moves last season, it got put on the back burner and previously, when we introduce it seems to coincide with a major slump in form of the team and we only have say, two goals to choose from - and also, end up choosing which match we were least depressed in. However, August had brought us six matches and plenty of choice, long may it continue…

MATCH OF THE MONTH

Four wins in Six games for the R’s, but which one is your stand out match in August?

QPR 2-1 Barnsley

Swindon 2-3 QPR ( Carling Cup)

Sheffield United 3-0 QPR – had to include it, sorry!

QPR 2-0 Doncaster Rovers

QPR 4-0 Carlisle ( Carling Cup)

Bristol City 1-1 QPR

GOAL OF THE MONTH

Twelve goals to choose from, but which is your favourite?

Fitz Hall’s First against Barnsley - After Leigertwood ran over the ball Ledesma beat the wall with a low drive that Steele parried back into the danger zone to Fitz Hall who hit the underside of the bar with an instinctive close range effort and when the ball bounced back into play it hit Steele who was laid out in the six yard box and bobbled into the net off Hall.

Fitz Hall’s second against Barnsley - an outswinging corner from Lee Cook looked for Delaney rushing in at the near post but when Barnsley managed to repel that threat and hack the ball out of the six yard box Hall was on hand with a magnificent hooked volley that flew over Steele and into the bottom corner.

Angelo Balanta v Swindon - Parejo's side curled the corner into the near post which Delaney met and struck at goal. It hit a Swindon body and landed at Balanta's feet for him to poke home at point blank range.

Dexter Blackstock v Swindon – Cookie delivered a trademark cross right into the path of Blackstock who thumped his header home for 2-2

Damien Delaney v Swindon – another R’s corner eventually fell to the feet of Delaney about 12 yards out and he fired through a bunch of players and through Brezovan's legs for 3-2.

Dexter Blackstock v Doncaster - Daniel Parejo came across to take a free kick and produced a simply undefendable delivery into the six yard box where Blackstock was on hand to knee the ball over the line from less than a yard out.

Emmanuel Ledesma v Doncaster - Mikele Leigertwood knocked a quick free kick into the heart of the penalty area where Ledesma had time and space to chest the ball down and poke it into the bottom corner for his first goal for the club.

Damion Stewart v Carlisle - Stewart rose at the near post with a thumping header across to the left hand side and in for 1-0.

Emmanuel Ledesma’s 1st v Carlisle - Mahon found Ledesma just inside the box on the right and from there it was game over. Ledesma took a touch, created space and cut inside on his left foot before firing low to Williams near post.

Emmanuel Ledesma’s 2nd v Carlisle - He played a one-two with Parejo whose fabulous return pass carried just enough weight for Ledesma to latch onto and dispatch into the back of the net for 3-0.

Emmanuel Ledesma’s 3rd v Carlisle - He played a one-two with Balanta who delightfully back-heeled into his path and Ledesma raced onto it and dinked the ball over Williams.

Dexter Blackstock v Bristol City - Dexter had the momentum and as he went to ground past the keeper he managed to swing his boot round to send the ball into the roof of the net before Fontaine could do anything about it.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Something tells me we could have a runaway winner here… even the match reports have it down to just two players. Anyway, the nominees are as follows…

Daniel Parejo

Dexter Blackstock

Fitz Hall

Gavin Mahon

Matthew Connolly

Radek Cerny

and

Oh yes, Emmanuel Ledesma…
