Midweek Championship Preview
Midweek Championship Preview
Monday, 15th Sep 2008 22:01

After the weekend action, follows a full midweek programme and LFW takes a look ahead to the midweek fixtures in the Coca Cola Championship.

Well, hot on the heels of the weekends games, comes a full midweek programme of Championship fixtures and so begins supporters making ridiculous midweek trips up and down the country following their team. None more so, than Plymouth who are away at Watford and are currently rock bottom of the Championship and following the weekend, are now the only side without a league win.

Wolves remain on top of the table following a 3-1 win at Charlton and on Tuesday night, welcome Crystal Palace to Molinuex. Palace recorded their first league win of the season on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Swansea at Selhurst Park. The Swans have a decent looking home tie with Derby this week. The Rams finally picked up their first win of the season at home to Sheffield United on Saturday. Second placed Birmingham make a long and awkward looking trip to Bristol City.

Reading v Sheffield Wednesday also looks a good fixture. Its been a mixed start for the Royals following their relegation from the Premier League and look a much better side at the Madjeski Stadium than they do on their travels. Wednesday however, have made a more than decent start and have climbed to sixth place in the table, almost unnoticed.

Elsewhere and third placed Preston take on Nottingham Forest at Deepdale. After a promising start, Forest have suffered two straight defeats, including a 5-1 thumping at leaders Wolves a couple of weeks ago. Southampton will look to move away from the bottom three on Wednesday night as they take on Ipswich at St Marys. Interesting looking fixture this as the Saints have suffered straight defeats from their home games so far but unlike previous seasons, Ipswich seem to be travelling well this season.
