Coventry v QPR Betting Preview
Coventry v QPR Betting Preview

After a terrific first week where both pundits made a profit you'd be wise to settle down and listen up to what they have to say before this Saturday's match with Coventry.

Stick with LFW kids, we’ll have that money saved up for the Derby ticket in no time at all. A £100 profit between our two pundits last week thanks to a QPR win and a Dexter Blackstock first goal – Brian Power had £120 in his back pocket before he’d even taken his seat on Sunday - so if you backed their tips you’ll have enough for two Gold tickets at the Derby game next week should you be stupid enough to pay our club’s scandalous prices.

It will be interesting to see just how the Football League manage to let us charge it despite the rule clearly saying you can’t change after the start of the season without the opposition agreeing – and Derby aren’t agreeing God bless em. Stick to your guns Rams, you’re our only hope. In the meantime probably a more sensible idea would be to reinvest the winnings, here’s this week’s tips.

The Don
I’m getting fairly disillusioned with QPR right now. Two wins in a week, the return of our fine captain to the starting eleven and in contention at the top of the table – who could ask for more? I’ll tell you who, our own little Oliver Twist – Ali Russell. His pathetic and patronising attempt to justify yet another ill judged (morally and commercially) price hike has been laughable.

I’m a season ticket holder so I took my pain – a penalty for my ‘continued and valued’ support - in the summer, but this effort to alienate the ‘walk up’ fan beggars belief. Ali, if you’re reading this, can you do us all a big favour and, how can I put this politely, ‘take the high road’ back to Scotland? Yes, I know, I know – just the messenger – but if he is just that, he should take more personal pride.

So that’s off my chest then. I’d venture that a much better £50 investment, if you want a genuine ‘platinum’ return, is to follow the advice in this column. I do believe both myself and Mr Power are in credit right now – he being a little further ‘in the pink’ than me (if that is the appropriate terminology). Last week I showed a modest profit on Look Here (£4) and a Rangers win (£8) with only Wes Brown (who scored at the wrong end) losing me any cash (£2). So we’re a ten quid up!

I think this week I’d like to concentrate on the ante post Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe market (to be run on Sunday October 5) and I have a couple of horses for you at nice prices. Invest £10 each way in VISION D’ETAT (10/1 generally) – this one won the key Prix Niel trial – and MEISHO SAMSOM (£10 each way with Bet365 at 25/1). I’ve got a sneaky hunch this former Japanese Derby winner could be fantastic value.

For the Rangers match I’ve got a feeling that one of our centre backs may notch first this weekend against the Sky Blues, so £5 at 25/1 (available generally) on both KASPARS GORKSS and DAMION STEWART.

We’ll win you a price of a ‘Gold’ season ticket yet – good luck.

For the weekend:
£5 on Damion Stewart to score first against Coventry 25/1
£5 on Kaspars Gorkss to score first against Coventry 25/1

For the notebook:
Vision d’Etat (£10 e/w @ 10/1) and Meisho Samson (£10 e/w @ 25/1) in Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe

Brian Power
£20 on a 6/1 shot is not a bad way to start this year. It puts us into profit by £90 or 2 tickets including booking fee in the Upper Loft for the Derby game as you and I know it. There are several mates of mine who are QPR fans that are running the Berlin Marathon next weekend and can I wish Ian, Kevin and John the best of luck. Have a look at the website link and if you have a spare few quid then they are running for a good cause. Right enough of the Bob Geldof impression.

We travel to Coventry and I see a tough game at the Ricoh and you can just see old Clinton popping up to score. However I think we can get a result in the Midlands and will have a tenner on us to win 2-1.

Finally apparently you know you cannot lick your elbow !!! What if like my old boss you don’t know you’re arse from your elbow and in which case you make think you are an exception to the rule!!

For the Weekend:
£10 QPR to beat Coventry 2-1 11/1 Hills
John Smith Handicap £20 Rose Street 6/1 Hills
£20 accum Millwall 4/6 Bradford4/6 and Peterborough 10/11 at Skybet
